For anyone starting MDC in the fall, I have books to sell, all in great condition Here are a few:
Fundamentals of Nursing $45
Fundamentals Success (great review book to get you thru the Fundamentals class) $15
Application of Nursing Process and Nursing Diagnosis (great for care plans) $15
Or $70 for all 3
All have CD's, the last two haven't even been opened.
And more books... let me know what you need!
I am located in south Broward, please message me if you are interested.
I guess everyone is probably as excited as I am about starting! I remember when we were counting down until we received acceptance letters :)! Is anyone else nervous, too? I am getting more butterflies in my stomach as these two weeks count down!
I was just thinking the same thing tonight :redbeathe I've been cleaning out my book shelves and have been arranging my binders, adding dividers, paper, etc.
I've got quite a bit left to go--I have to throw away so much stuff to make room for more!
I am still in the process of making my food lists... need to keep it LOW FAT!
Also, I am taking my uniform top and bottom to the tailor's. The top is ENORMOUS on me. I look lost in it, lol. And white skirt I got is a small but it is apparently made for tall people....
Oh yes.. and I have quite a few sewing projects I want to finish and some books I have left to enjoy. Sigh. Good bye free time
BTW Pixie, how have you been feeling? Is the pain almost gone yet?

The pain is mostly gone - I just get sharp twinges when I use it too much (which is almost none at all!)Can't write yet, so that will be what I want to focus on when I begin therapy next week. Thank you so much for asking!:):redbeathe
I was wondering, what clothes can we wear for class? Can I wear jeans to class i wonder? and t-shirts? Is the skills lab dress code different? I need to buy clothes, but don't know what to buy.
I'm glad you are feeling better!!!!
Dress code.... mmmm I think this information would be in the booklet they gave us at orientation! I see people in tank tops & jeans all the time. But I have an opinion about that....
I think we should try to look our best and present ourselves as "clean cut" and organized as possible. Our professors may be our bosses someday, or might be the reason why we get a job we want or not. We want to be a professional as can be, even in the classroom setting or on campus. You never know who is watching
I don't like judging people but the reality is we do it all the time, and so do our peers, professors, and employers. For example, I helped a student the other day that came in looking really untidy and unkept. She put her messy purse on the counter in front of me, rummaging through loose sticky notes and napkins. She was looking for the name of an NCLEX video she wanted to check out. I waited patiently and stared in horror at that mess. Sadly, in the back of my mind I thought, "If this is how messy she is with her belongings, notes, and appearance, I'd be scared to have her as my nurse". This is the truth.
This is just a little experience I had that would be good to keep in mind. We want to make good first impressions! I am a Crocs/sneakers girl but I am seriously considering looking for dressier shoes to use on campus.
Hmmm Pixie I think Target has nice clothes. Definitely stay away from certain teeny bopper stores LOL! Some stores that have business causal clothes: Target, Express, Gap(nice basics). Yea even try Old Navy. I Loveee their cardigans :)
I don't think jeans are a problem at all. There are dressy jeans and then there are these hideous jeans with rips, lol. I think its all about complements. If you want to wear comfy jeans, just pair it with some nice flats and a nice little buttoned blouse and cargigan. Not a lot of clingy jewelry and glitter LOL. I think its just personal preference really. :) Jeans can look really neat if you pair them right! Hope this helps!
No Eagle, your comments have been extremely helpful. Without sounding like I'm too eager to flatter, some of the tips and info I've found on here have amazed me. So many of the contributors seem like extremely successful students and eager to share secrets and advice. I only discovered this site when I was randomly searching for something about MDC. Now I honestly don't know what I would have done without the wealth of information I got here. Just want to thank everyone and especially you Eagle since you started the two MDC discussions I follow the most. :hrnsmlys:

I definitely agree with you! I was thinking the same thing - pair nice jeans with nice casual shoes and a nice casual blouse. I'm just really stuck on wearing jeans! I can't help it - I worked at a high school for 8 years and we were allowed to wear jeans! - that's the extent of my professional wardrobe!

... and my friend was laughing at me because I wanted a BIG boxy type rolling book bag that would hold plenty of books! Just haven't figured out how I'm supposed to lug the heavy thing up/down stairs if the need arises.
