Hey everyone!

Thought I would start a thread where we can keep up with all the fun new and exciting things coming our way! We'll get to meet each other in a few days (May 20th)! So, how shall we identify ourselves to one another? Hum...

Anyway, look forward to meeting you all! I'm excited about the Nursing Orientation!

I believe you are supposed to register for one semester at a time, not 8 wk blocks when you are in the nursing program (unless you are actually starting in October or March and can only register for those last 8 wks of the semester). Everyone I have classes with has done it that way. You may want to call Teri and get the official word on that.

I guess I am an "outside of the box" kind of thinker. As long as it is within the rules it should be fine. I registered for the first 8 weeks already and will register for the second 8 weeks later on. I did that with my classes last term (non-nursing classes) and it wasn't a problem.

I do appreciate your input though. Thanks!

Seriously! I do this so that I don't have to pay all at once, and a few of my buddies do it too.

When I started last year I waited a really long time to register for the 1500's and Teri emailed me to make sure I was still planning to start the program....I said yes and that I would get around to registering eventually... and it didn't matter at all. The deadline would be in August and not in October if they cared.

Awesome! Thank you so much. I figured it was that way. It isn't like someone is going to take my 8 week slot for October... and I have to waitlist it. :p

Have a great day!

HELP!!! I thought I ordered two patches, but I only ordered one. I don't know if dove will get it to me before I start on the 28th. Or does anyone know if it really matters the first 8 weeks?

Did you need one for your lab coat and one for scrubs? We will only need scrubs one day a week.

Oh and the nurse packs are finally for sale. I called today.

Does anyone know if we have to wear our uniforms for the first day of 1530? I have that class on Fridays so it ends up being the first day of the semester for me.

I still need books too! I'm waiting for financial aid to come through. Anyone know if there are still plenty of used books available/

From what it says in the handbook I would assume we need to wear the scrubs to lab everyday. I am not sure about used books being left but I was just there today to pick up the nurse pack. There was no sphygomometer in it. I thought there might be. The Nursing Diagnosis book is finally in also.

You need to wear your scrubs the first day. You need to purchase a latex-free BP cuff which they had in the bookstore last year, but you can get on some websites. Unfortunately you don't use them in the hospital after lab clinicals, but it is always good to have one close by anyways.

We didn't wear our scrubs the first day but maybe it changed. I heard they reformatted the 1500s a bit.

Just a tip to the new folks- make sure you check the bulletin board outside the nursing office, frequently and before each start. I just found out we have two days of orientation before school even starts. They don't bother to email anyone to tell us this crap...they just randomly post it and expect us to find out. My boss is going to love this!

Thanks Hoot! I certainly appreciate a head's up on anything. I wish I knew where to start reading. I am overwhelmed with all the books!!

I got a letter today with the syllabus for 1530. Now I know where to start reading!! EVERYWHERE!! The other syllabi can be picked up too.

Oh my God!! My son picked up the syllabi for the 1500 classes for me. THERE IS OVER AN INCH HIGH STACK OF PAPERS!!!! The books were overwhelming enough but this is freaking me out!!!
