MCC - Nursing Students Starting 2009

Published

Hey everyone!

Thought I would start a thread where we can keep up with all the fun new and exciting things coming our way! We'll get to meet each other in a few days (May 20th)! So, how shall we identify ourselves to one another? Hum...

Anyway, look forward to meeting you all! I'm excited about the Nursing Orientation!

It was used but looks brand new. I opened my Fundamentals of Nursing. It is the heaviest book ever made- I think the pages are made of lead. It is a used book too but is perfect. It had one wrinkled page in the front because there is a CD in there.

Is there anyway you can tell me the ISBN for that book???? If you can that would be great! Thanks!

okay here are the ISBN numbers on the books I got....

These first three items I got bound together and were used for $154.50 at the book store:

Fundamentals of Nursing 6th Ed Taylor (hard cover) includes CD-rom

ISBN-13 is 978-0-7817-8157-2

Taylor's Clinical Nursing Skills: A Nursing Process Approach 2nd Ed (soft cover)includes CD-rom

ISBN-13 is 978-0-7817-7465-9

Taylor's Video Guide to Cinical Nursing Skills Student Set on CD-ROM (17 CDs)

Nursing Scope &Standards of Practice ANA 2004 Ed (Used) $18.00

ISBN 1-55810-215-9

Communication in Nursing 6th Ed Julia Balzer Riley (Used) $39.75

(they put a sticker over the darn ISBN)

Then I got the "Perfect Package" I described in my posting. I looked it up on amazon and to buy the three books on there it was like $2 cheaper than the book store- so hardly worth the trouble.

The book I got that rang up for $20.25 ( actually a set of 2 books) are:

Pharmacology and the Nursing Process 5th Ed Lilley (includes CD)

ISBN 978-0-323-04486-8

Pharmacology and the Nursing Process Study Guide 5th Ed Lilley

ISBN 978-0-323-04489-9

The one book we need that is a 13th Edition is not printed yet, I think. They didnt have it at the bookstore or on Amazon, so I looked it up with the publisher and it said it was to be published in August 2009.

Thanks so much!

What side of our uniforms does the patch go on? Thank you

Does anyone know the code for the MCCSNA on MCC'S website?? I would really like to go on to see the posts from the students and get helpful info. They said we could access it once we registered for our nursing classes. Thanks. Also for those of you that have not purchased their stethoscopes yet the cheapest website I found was medisave and I also found a coupon code for 5%. I found the cardiac III with free engraving for $131.99 with the coupon code backtoschool. I think I am going to order mine in the next couple days. I got my uniforms the other day and they fit pretty good and I like the blue.

The MCCSNA is now on the Angel login thing and it used to be really good, but they really messed it up and they got rid of all of the old posts. It is such a shame because the old posts were so valuable to the incoming students last year. When they proposed changing the SNA website, I asked them to keep the old ones, but that didn't happen. And now on the "new and improved" Angel thing, you can't even start your own topic of discussion. I'm not quite sure how to be able to get around it. There also used to be a Yahoo group for MCC nursing students, but apparently it is now defunct.

Sorry to have rained on the parade regarding the website. As a matter of fact, I sort of looked into starting an MCC Nursing student forum thing on one of those free website things, but I'm kind of leary of doing that.

Anyway, that's the scoop on that.

Sounds like you all are getting ready... I'm excited for you all. I'm trying to get myself psyched out to start studying for Med-Surg 2. It sure is hard when the summer is so lovely and mild.

Take care everyone, Hoot

Hottinhorlin,

Is there any requirements for where the patch goes on our uniforms....right side left side????

Thank you,

pbid

Hey there everyone. It has been a bit since I have been on here. I got a job!!! Woo hoo!! I will be working as much as I can before school starts for me in October. I got a job as a PCT and couldn't be happier! I am contingent so when school starts I will be able to cut the hours down. I am so excited to start school! I bet all the August starts are ready to go! Have fun!

That is awesome! Congratulations!!

I called and applied and they are sending my resume to the hiring managers, I haven't heard anything yet.

Where are you working??

How late can we register for the October classes?? I want to pay for my August classes, but can't pay for all the classes at once. I figured I could disenroll from the October classes and reenroll after I get my financial aid if they would let me.

I believe you are supposed to register for one semester at a time, not 8 wk blocks when you are in the nursing program (unless you are actually starting in October or March and can only register for those last 8 wks of the semester). Everyone I have classes with has done it that way. You may want to call Teri and get the official word on that.
