MCC Fall 2009 applicants, post your HESI class average.

Published

Okay it is a long time until the letters go out and we are all wondering if our HESI score was good enough. So let's be silly and play detectives and see if we can get an idea of where we stand.

For 1000 students with around 30 seats per room, there was around 34 classes.

1. Greent52389- 1/7/09, Rm 130, 81.73 average

2. Shannonmarie7- 1/7/09, Rm 115, 81.75 average

Repy with your test date, number of the room you were in, and the average score from your class and I will update this page to see what some of the overall class averages are.:smokin:

Hi guys,

I don't know if this helps, but sometime in February/March MCC sends out a letter confirming your application along with requests for any information that's missing. In this letter they will also state your HESI score and the GPA that you will be ranked on.

:twocents:

Good luck!

Sweet! That really makes me feel better!

I was wondering about thisbecause I heard you get a letter letting you know if your application is complete, and I just wanted to know if we were going to get it soon, so that we can fix it if anything is missing.

I got one letter saying mine was complete, but it didn't have any other information on it. I assume this is another letter they send out?

You already got one? I wonder if I should be concerned that I haven't. I took the HESI back in November and they have all my college transcripts, im not sure what else I could be missing.

It was issued on January 8th, saying that they received all the required documents, and they will let us know approximately 2 months from the deadline date.

I bet we get another one with the other information on it.

Are any of you Nursing Program hopefuls currently in the Friday/Saturday Physiology/Anatomy class with Professor Brooks? :wtosts:

I have a letter dated Aug. 8, 2008 stating that they have received my application. I believe I turned it in on opening day.... July 15 I think, so about a month after I applied I received a confirmation letter of receipt of my application.

Last year, I received a letter dated April 3, 2008 listing the average composite scores and grade point averages of admitted Nursing Program Applicants by year:

2005 - 90 HESI Composite and 3.8753 GPA

2006 - 90 HESI Composite and 3.8928 GPA

2007 - 94 HESI Composite and 3.9375 GPA

It also says: Your ranking GPA and HESI Composite Score are listed below. If you have any questions or concerns about your GPA or Composite Score that will be used for ranking, please contact the Enrollment Office by Friday, April 11. Once this date has passed and ranking has started we will not make any adjustments to your GPA or Composite Score. NO EXCEPTIONS.

It also said: We will begin ranking on Monday, April 14. (so be nice to the mailman)

HTH :yeah:

I am in a tues/thurs section of A&P at macomb, so when it gets really awful we can share horror stories!

thanks corazondeoro, i was actually hoping to find some more study buddies!

I haven't forgotten about you guys! I come bearing information.

I met with an advisor today at MCC and they said that they will take the most recent 12 credits earned BEFORE the application deadline (Feb 15). If you earned 12 in the fall, for example, those will be the ones used to determine your GPA for ranking purposes.

I earned 13 from Baker fall 08, and 4 from MCC summer 08. Out of the 13 credits that I have from Baker (A&P I, basic math, Speech), only 9 will transfer; my math class will NOT, so they will NOT include it as part of my GPA.

Since A&P I and Speech only total 9 credits (from Baker), they will take my 4 summer 08 credits from MCC. That will give me a total of 13 credits: 9 taken from Baker (the most recent) and the 4 taken from MCC, thus fulfilling the most recent 12 credit requirement.

MCC will ONLY look at classes that EQUALLY transfer in determining the GPA.

Unfortunately, Baker's A&P does NOT equally transfer to MCC. Both Baker's A&P I AND A&P II MUST be complete in order to fulfill MCC's A&P requirement. (Oh, hello there, albatross. Fancy meeting you here)

So I hope that answers everything. If I'm forgetting anything, or if I didn't explain things well enough, let me know so I can clarify :)

Was it a nursing advisor (do they have those there??)?

See that isn't what they told me at all when I met with an advisor.

So I am really confused now, especially as if you didn't have 12 they would look at your high school gpa and use that to help figure it. Then they couldn't possibly only use the classes that you took that are equally transferred.

I haven't had any classes at MCC in at least 5 years. Maybe because all my classes are taken at Baker it is a different situation. Did they say this was in relation to your particular situation?

I sent them an email, hopefully they don't tell me to come in.

LOL

Still another question. What do you mean transfer equally? Speech doesn't transfer equally and neither does A&P 1. None of them transfer equally.

I guess that is where my confusion lies!
