Hey guys!
How about we start a Spring 2008 graduates thread? I noticed the 2007 class had a thread on this so I thought it might be fun to start ours.
When do you plan to take the NCLEX?
Will you work before you take the boards?
Have you started applying for jobs?
Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift?
What gift would you like to give urself?
Here I go...
I graduate in June and plan to take the boards in August
I will not work while studying for the boards. I have a friend who started in the MICU before taking the boards, and 2 months later she still does not feel ready to take it:o
I planned on applying in January, but I think I might start now since UCLA has now created a wait list for new grads:uhoh3:
I plan to work in a MICU, noc shift
Gift? I would like a puppy. I always wanted one
Now, Spring class of 2008 tell us what your plans are! 1, 2, 3, GO...

Thanks K!! Just remember that no matter how tough it seems or how bad of a day you have had, this day WILL come -- and I gotta' tell you, it'll be here before you know it!! I'm still scratching my head wondering how I got here!!
Good luck to YOU!! :redpinkhe
I have all my nursing classes finished, I am now in my last class "Transitions" course which is a bridge from student to RN or so they say. This is my last course before May 16th Pinning Ceremony
When do you plan to take the NCLEX?
I want to take them in June, but I hear they are backed up really bad here in Wisconsin so I haven't a clue.
Will you work before you take the boards?
I am working in my Nurse Preceptor role now, so yes
Have you started applying for jobs?
Applied and was hired in December
Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift?
I am working on the Med/Surg unit, they hired me for second shift, although I really love 1st which is what I am precepting on.
What gift would you like to give yourself?
I would love to take a quick get away but I have not been at my job long enough yet to take off, so maybe this fall or who knows winter.
My pinning ceremony is May 16, and I would like to take the NCLEX by the end of June or beginning of July.
I'm not sure yet if I will work before boards.
I started applying for jobs at the beginning of January, but the hospitals here don't start interviewing new grads until March so I've had a couple of interviews so far. I'm waiting to hear back about a NICU position I applied for--should hear tomorrow. So, hopefully I will be working there, and it is a night shift position.
And there are a lot of gifts I've thought about getting myself... Maybe a whole new wardbrobe. I want/need a new car, but I probably won't get one right away.
Good luck to everyone!
