Hey guys!
How about we start a Spring 2008 graduates thread? I noticed the 2007 class had a thread on this so I thought it might be fun to start ours.
When do you plan to take the NCLEX?
Will you work before you take the boards?
Have you started applying for jobs?
Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift?
What gift would you like to give urself?
Here I go...
I graduate in June and plan to take the boards in August
I will not work while studying for the boards. I have a friend who started in the MICU before taking the boards, and 2 months later she still does not feel ready to take it:o
I planned on applying in January, but I think I might start now since UCLA has now created a wait list for new grads:uhoh3:
I plan to work in a MICU, noc shift
Gift? I would like a puppy. I always wanted one
Now, Spring class of 2008 tell us what your plans are! 1, 2, 3, GO...

I graduated in April and will take the NCLEX on June 24.
Will you work before you take the boards?
I start orientation this week as a nurse extern; my title will change to RN once I pass.
Have you started applying for jobs?
I started applying back in December.
Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift?
I'll be working 7A to 7P on a MedSurg floor that specializes in neuro.
What gift would you like to give urself?
I'd like an Ipod and a Palm TX, but my first gift will be getting my house painted.
I already answered but my NCLEX date is June 2, and I begin work on the Birthing Center of our hospital (yaaay!!) on Aug 4. We are doing some traveling this summer and our unit coordinator thought it was a great idea to take a little time between school and work. I will be working 7p - 7a. L&D is what I've wanted for a very long time and I'm so grateful it worked out!
I chose not to do Kaplan, simply because I felt pretty strong in my test-taking skills and was a little worried it might re-wire things in my head and mess me up! If it ain't broke... you know the schpiel. I've been taking ATI practice tests, Loretta Manning practice tests (they're the ones who published "NCLEX Made Insanely Easy") and all sorts of other modules we were given through school and I'm doing well. I wish I could just take the bloody thing and get it over with!!
Several of my classmates have taken and passed, and I'm so jealous!
:nuke: I graduated on May 9 and I am currently waiting on my ATT. I plan to take the NCLEX ASAP! I went to school in Texas but reside in Louisiana where I hear it takes forever to get the ATT. I have been looking at the Saunders book to prepare, but I have heard that Lippincott is much better (does anyone know for sure?). I would really like to have my license before applying to any jobs. I plan on taking my family to Disneyworld to make up for the neglect they went through while I was in school. Good luck to everyone!

Cool! We are doing a graduation cruise too - in July. We are cruising to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Honduras. Which cruise line did you go with? How was it?
We went Carnival this time. It's my 3rd cruise. It was OK especially if you have never cruised b 4. You will have a blast either way. Personally I like Royal Carribean better. We had 10 people with us so it was way fun!
As far as the ATT....I registered with Pearson on May 19th(later than everyne else due to finances). Got my ATT on the 23rd and scheduled my NCLEX the same day and got June 16th. I called the Pearson 1-800 number and just told them that I wanted the soonest day they had in the Houston area. My GN posted on May 24th and is good until Aug 7th.
I registered with Pearson awhile back... All of my necessary documents were received at our Board of Nursing for weeks, but apparently the director of the school has to wait until the day of graduation to sign everything (our verifications) and send it all in to the BON. So I guess our school docs were received by the BON around the 6 of May and I received my ATT the 13th of May. I logged onto Pearson-Vue and scheduled my test asap and got the 2nd of June - next Monday. I wish I could have had a closer date - I feel ready to take it now, and I don't want anything to change!! I have several classmates that have taken and passed theirs. Oh, to be on that side of it...
