May/June 2008 Grads!!

Published

Hey guys!

How about we start a Spring 2008 graduates thread? I noticed the 2007 class had a thread on this so I thought it might be fun to start ours.

When do you plan to take the NCLEX?

Will you work before you take the boards?

Have you started applying for jobs?

Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift?

What gift would you like to give urself?

Here I go...

I graduate in June and plan to take the boards in August

I will not work while studying for the boards. I have a friend who started in the MICU before taking the boards, and 2 months later she still does not feel ready to take it:o

I planned on applying in January, but I think I might start now since UCLA has now created a wait list for new grads:uhoh3:

I plan to work in a MICU, noc shift

Gift? I would like a puppy. I always wanted one

Now, Spring class of 2008 tell us what your plans are! 1, 2, 3, GO...

It has been my experience that you already aced it when you graduated nursing school. If they are interviewing a new grad. then they are willing to train you the way they want you, so as long as you are attentive, polite, curious, and willing to work without calling in every other day then your good to go. Oh, it helps to do a little background on the company and ask questions about job responsibilities and employee turnover rate. Remember make yourself happy first. Good Luck to you and keep in mind that you have something they need, I don't mean be cocky but be confident.;)

Specializes in Operating Room.

Best of luck to everyone today testing, and to those finding out their results!!!

Specializes in LTC, Med-Surg, ICU and Cath Lab.

Hey travel because you like me worked as a LPN how do you feel about the nclexRN I am freaking out!!! I got sick coming out and for me it was much harder then the nclexlpn, I had 75 questions and 4 math more then 20 sata, and priority, infection control, I felt like I didn't knew enough, I just felt like I don't know if I pass or not. But I am going crazy. Please tell me how you did and if you had the same sensation!!!

Specializes in ICU Neuro.

i was told by lecturers and others who have sit it, that it's so easy, a homeless guy with a pick axe in his frontal lobes could pass.

:chuckle:chuckle:chuckle that is one of the funniest things i have heard in a long time. maybe my sense of humor is in over drive now, since i passed nclex and received my license on the 17th of june.

Specializes in ICU Neuro.

im in california and we have the tortuous waiting game.

just out of curiosity, if the waiting is so bad and so long in california, why not apply for joint licensure in another state - with quick results - at the same time. yes, it will cost more money, but whats a few hundred dollars compared to peace of mind?

Hey IVleaguenurse,:loveya:

I'll just go ahead and say Congrats because that sounds a whole lot like the test I just took don't ya think? I felt like I was in a daze and I couldn't remember the content of the questions. I kept up with the type of question but it took several hours before I was able to recall any of the wording or anything. But seriously, you passed without a doubt. I hope you already have that dream job or at least have it lined up. How long will you have to wait for results? I know here in Ky. most often during the week they only wait until the next A.M. if taken early in the day. [through pearsonvue phone line.]

I called this morning and they told me that I will have to wait 48hrs, AIiii Caramba!!!! So I do have the dream job, at least that's what I thought but I am kinda of changing my mind hahah ICU:no:. I worked today and it was the hardest thing because I couldn't concentrate in nothing. I had my preceptor check my drugs three times before given it to the pt. All because this freaking N-Clex, and then they wonder why nurses end up in psych units at nursing homes hahahahh:yawn::clown::chuckle It's all the trauma from Nursing school ahhaha:yawn::clown::chuckle!!! So tomorrow in AM I will know how I did and I will let you know. Thanx for the reply :loveya:

Hey Darrell,

Sounds like a great plan but I think you will be fine. As you will soon see there really isn't any way to study for this test and I don't know how to explain it other than to say you either know it or you don't. It isn't that it is a very hard test because it is not, it is the answers they are not what you are looking for at all. Don't worry so much about it though because according to your work history you won't have any problem at all with this test. I had so many SATAs that I just knew that I failed but apparently I had a very lucky day, and so will you. Good Luck to you and don't study to hard. I didn't study at all by the way, all I did was at least 3-4 times a week I did about 75-100 questions. That is plenty.
