Hey guys!

How about we start a Spring 2008 graduates thread? I noticed the 2007 class had a thread on this so I thought it might be fun to start ours.

When do you plan to take the NCLEX?

Will you work before you take the boards?

Have you started applying for jobs?

Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift?

What gift would you like to give urself?

Here I go...

I graduate in June and plan to take the boards in August

I will not work while studying for the boards. I have a friend who started in the MICU before taking the boards, and 2 months later she still does not feel ready to take it:o

I planned on applying in January, but I think I might start now since UCLA has now created a wait list for new grads:uhoh3:

I plan to work in a MICU, noc shift

Gift? I would like a puppy. I always wanted one

Its like a predictability test (mock NCLEX), sort of like the ATI comprehensive test.

Yes the Hesi is a practive NCLEX, and my school made a policy last year that if you do not pass it they will not allow you to graduate (no pressure). I have actually heard from past students that they felt the Hesi was harder than the NCLEX. They offer 2 chances to pass it and I am on try 2, so wish me luck!!

Wow, we have to take it next Wed. but it is worth 20% of our grade and we don't get to retake it. We were told that we have to pass it also and that it is a ninety-eight % predictor if you will pass nclex or not. Good Luck everyone. God Please, let us all pass this course and then the big bad NCLEX. My mind is just :sstrs:all the time.

When do you plan to take the NCLEX? Sometime in late May or early June

Will you work before you take the boards? If it takes longer than June 16th, yes

Have you started applying for jobs? I did that and got a job actually.

Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift? Ill be working at the hospital behind my home and will be on the medical unit for days. I am pretty lucky b/c the unit took into consideration the fact that my husband is deployed to Iraq. So I am locked into only weekdays. :up:

What gift would you like to give urself? Probably boobs :yeah: I think I've earned them!

When do you plan to take the NCLEX?

I would like to take it early June; I am not sure... I am taking a Kaplan review course starting June 3, but I hope to have a considerable amount of studing done before then. I just want to take it when I am ready, but not wait too long.

Yes. Bills don't go away, and my mom and grandpa can't keep helping me out--they have been such a great help, I don't know what I would have done without them!!

I have accepted a position with Indiana University Hospital on the Organ Transplant Unit. They are moving their ICU unit together with their med/surg and PCU unit, and I took an ICU position. I am SO excited! I start orientation May 27! I will be working nights.

What gift would you like to give urself?

I like the previous answer-- boobs!! That is something I have wanted also, but I have some more weight to lose. (I have already had my consultation). I have already lost 60 lbs, and I need to be within 20 lbs of my goal weight. Only problem-- I don't know my goal weight!! Lol, I just want to be healthy; but I think I will know it when I get closer to reaching it!

Congrats to all of us! We made it! Can you believe it? I had my pinning the other night on Thursday, and our graduation is this upcoming Tuesday! :cheers::w00t::balloons::icon_hug::clpty::onbch::rckn:*wine:chrs:

I graduate May 17th, take Kaplin starting May 12. Plan on testing sometime in June

Will you work before you take the boards?

Was hired as a GN on an oncology/BMT floor beginning June 16

Have you started applying for jobs?

I started looking for jobs in early April

Where do you plan to work? Unit and shift?

Working at a large well respected Magnet status hospital in Milwaukee, straight PM's, Oncology BMT.

What gift would you like to give urself?

Passing the NCLEX on the first try!! :nurse:

will you work before you take the boards? i am working now as a pca per diem.

have you started applying for jobs? i do have a job that i accepted back in april, after my preceptorship.

where do you plan to work? unit and shift? i will be working in the nicu - i would love to work nights!!!! i have a 6mon residency/orientation to get thru first.

what gift would you like to give urself? massage and shopping spree....just some me time or maybe even a cruise :D

i'm with you on the shopping spree!!! i can't wait to buy new clothes and shoes for my personal life as well as my professional life!:D
