I graduate in June and plan to take the boards in August
I will not work while studying for the boards. I have a friend who started in the MICU before taking the boards, and 2 months later she still does not feel ready to take it:o
I planned on applying in January, but I think I might start now since UCLA has now created a wait list for new grads:uhoh3:

- Already am as an aide in a hospital. But yes I do plan on working before taking the boards so I can keep my skills up. Been the best thing so far.

- Not yet but already have one lined up.

- Same facility I already am working at. I will be working on a med-surg unit, but unsure which one. I do not want nights if i can help it, and prefer evenings, but my facility only does 12hrs, so I plan on doing days.
What gift would you like to give yourself?
- Thats hard, but probably a new phone, or better yet...my BSN and MSN handed to me on a silver platter!
Hopefully in July. I graduate in June but will be finished classes in May.

No, I don't want to get side tracked with "real world skills" vs. "text book skills". Will work as much as I want after passing boards!

I have accepted a position in the NICU at a Children's Hospital! YAY!! Hopefully I can get an all night position if available but night now it's rotating.
What gift would you like to give yourself?
A condo and a car! Doubt that will be happening though....so I'll settle for a well deserved vacation.
I will take boards ASAP...I hate waiting, I just want to get it over with! I have interviewed a few times...I will most like do Med/Surg, night shift. Later transition into Psychiatric nursing.

I still can't believe it's almost over!!! Hi everyone, I too graduate in May, am req'd to be hired and work 120hours before sitting for boards so I hope to take them within a month or so but I hear the facilities take so long getting their paperwork done to send to the BON for you that it could take a few months just to get an acceptance letter to test. Anyway, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this new license but the closer I get the more I think about going back to LTC. As far as what I want to do for myself, well, I think I would like to take two whole weeks and go away and just relax and be waited on. No studies or anyone asking for anything, I can't imagine not being nervous for that long, it will be amazing.
Graduation is May 15th!! :w00t:NCLEX will be ASAP after that- I just want that over with! We're moving from MN to Southern California late July and I'm starting that first RN job on a med/surg floor at a Children's Hospital on August 8th!
I would like my gift to myself to be a new car, but I don't think my husband will allow it. So I think it might just be the nice SoCal weather. :weathersunsmall:
