- How long did it take for “the fear” to wear off? It took a couple of months. - Do you have trouble balancing work and your personal life? No. When I have a bad shift I try and leave it at work and not bring it home. -What was the hardest part about being a new grad? The unknown. No. Nursing school is just a foundation that is built upon after graduating. - What is the worst mistake you have made and what did you learn from it? I did not put a bed alarm on a patient. He had gotten up to use the bathroom without my knowledge. I work on a tele floor and I heard the tele monitor go off. It read asystole and at the same time I heard what sounded like a bowling ball hitting the floor. Found patient on floor and called code and began compressions. Long story short patient was in for new onset of a-fib and we were just waiting to get his INR therapeutic and he would be going home. Unfortunatly he ended up in ICU with a subdural hematoma and because of the extended pause he got a pacer placed the next morning. The mistake I made was not having the bed alarm on or being in the room to assist him to the bathroom (I could of assessed him before he got up). - What do you wish you had been told before you started working? The truth about what nurses truly do....I was a tech for 8 months before becoming a nurse, but as a tech you can always "pass the buck" and say, "I will get the nurse". As the nurse everything falls on your head. - What would be the most practical piece of advice would you give to someone who is just starting out as a nurse? Just breathe and you will do just fine. The initial impact of this new role as "the nurse" will only last a short time and then you will start to feel more comfortable in your role.

i had 20 sata and passed with 75... my sister took it and had only 4 sata and passed with 75.... it just depends on the questions you get....i just passed a week ago and i can tell you that you can not figure the nclex out...it is impossible. i thought for sure i failed because the questions were so hard and then around question 45 they seemed to be easier (or it was just because i was more certain of the answers). I even got a beta blker question toward the end and i thought to myself "OMG i am failing...no one graduates nsg school without knowing heart meds". Truly nclex is a test like no other. Be calm and i am sure you passed:)

Suzanne is right. You can not predict your success/failure after taking the NCLEX. After a horrible 48hr wait and having to check my results yesterday while at work and having to do my assessments and give meds...i finally checked my results on pearsonvue and....... I passed!!!!!!!!! To all those waiting....I was 95% sure I had failed. The number of SATA really scared me...then to top it off after about number 44 or 45 the questions seemed to get easier so i thought for sure i had failed because the first 3/4ths of the test was so difficult. Truly you can not analyze your results of that test (believe me i tried). Congrats to every one who passed....and try to calm down for everyone still waiting on their results.

I'm in the same boat. 75q's and i don't know what to think. I had infection control, a lot of priority, a few delegation, a lot of med teaching/SE's, and 19 sata. I am scared because i had a sata at the beginning of the test and was repeated later on during the test (just in different words). BTW i had 2 math questions also.

I forgot all about vit C causing false + ......this is great!

I graduated May 9th and once my school sent transcripts to the board and everything was "cleared"....my name is now listed as a graduate nurse on the BON. This occurred around the same time I received my ATT. BTW I am in Texas.

I did like 1000 saunder questions and quit because the HESI questions are not the same. I passed HESI first time by getting the HESI question bank online (evolve website) and doing the HESI casestudies on the evolve website that were provided by our school. Evolve bought out HESI. I also used the CD provided in the HESI RN NCLEX review book. The questions are tricky and you will score worse than on saunder's but that is how the HESI questions are worded. Good luck.

I graduated May 9th and received my ATT...today I scheduled the NCLEX for June 30th. I was nervous just scheduling the date. Well I took 2 weeks off from studying now it's back to the books. I am still uncertain of how to study for nclex>??? Has anyone heard anything about Saunder's online Nclex review?? It is like $60.

it is not unnecessarily hard...nsg school is different from general/acedemic classes that we take to get into the program. it has not been a piece of cake....the volume/amt of work in nsg school is what almost did me in especially during my first year....but then you kind of get use to it and you know what the instructors expect. critical thinking/application/analysis during test taking is what got me during my 1st and 2nd semester. nsg school tests are like no other test you have ever taken before.

my sister is also graduating may 8th from north harris. she has completed the program, but has stated she has really liked it....nh is very organized since they have had their nsg program the longest of all of the nhmccd colleges. i am sorry...i hate the fact that they have changed the name to lone star. the change just took place this spring semester...and now i will have that name on my degree. oh well, i plan on getting my bachelor's next anyway:) will you be attending nh?

I am starting at $23.11/hr base pay and will be doing days for the first two months of my internship and the last month I will go to nights. The night shift diff is $4.00/hr and evenings is $3.65/hr more.

An internship is not required, but as a new graduate it is beneficial. You are one-on-one with a preceptor (an experienced RN). Unfortunatly we do not come out of nursing school knowing everything (OMG is that statement not the truth):uhoh21:. We are novice and as a graduate nurse passing the NCLEX only means that we meet the "minimum" requirements to practice as a registered nurse. Good luck to you. Thanks....I accepted a GN internship through the Memorial Hermann System (don't want to tell the specific hospital).

I accepted a GN position w/ base of 23.11 and $4 night shift diff. BTW it's a hospital outside of the Houston area.

I go to Montgomery. I graduate May 8th....1st yr schedule consisted of two clinical days and two lecture/lab days per week. Second year consisted of one 12 hr clinical and two lecture days per week.
