I was just curious if everyone is finding jobs? I personally only applied for one hospital as there are 4 within 30 miles from me, but the one I applied for is the closest. Everyone in my class including myself started applying in January and most of us interviewed in Feb. I haven't got a call yet but they said they would be calling this week....I am crossing my fingers!!!
Anyhow I know that everyone around here is pretty much not having a problem but I didn't know what it was like in other areas.
Whats the pay like?
benifits?
reimbursements?
The position I applied for actually is on the lower end of the pay scale, but the benefits and reimbursement outway what the other hospitals offer. So what factors did you calculate when finding your first job as an GN.
I have started applying seriously for positions but things are not what they made it out to seem in the first place.I'm trusting GOD to lead me the on the right path and divine intervention cos u really CANNOT do it on your own and that's the truth!
Thanks! I am graduating from a Bachelors programs in CT, but am moving to a different state for my job. I started applying in December of 2008 for GN programs. I received two offers in CT in different ICUs, but held out and finally got in to the NICU, I found out early last week about the NICU job. If I had to give any advice on the job search I would just say be as persistent as you can, I felt like I was stalking the people from HR, but in these economic times I think you have to be sort of pushy! WISH YOU ALL THE BEST!!! I am graduating from Associates this May 2009 but we are moving to Washington State, so to anybody who has advice for me on which hospitals to apply in Washington State, please feel free to email.
No jobs in massachusetts or connecticut. Of all of my 75 classmates in MA only a handfull have jobs, those who do have jobs are moving out of the north east, i may end up being one of them if this dosn't change. I have applied to four hosptials in CT and not so much a nibble. 2 hosptials in MA that i would apply to aren't even posting to external applicants yet. One hosptial responded through email that they will have priority to their Student nurses and will get back to me with their availablity (in a month!) I am just trying to get into med-surg, I didn't think it would be soo hard!

I am so excited, blessed and lucky. I got my dream job with L&D on my first interview...(I still have to pass my final exam and NCLEX, of course) but tonight I celebrate....

May, 2009 graduate from NC here!!
I applied for 7 jobs. I actually interviewed with 4 of them at the hospital I currently
work at. I was told that 'position was filled by another candidate'. HOW FRUSTRATING!!
I put my application in and was offered a position at another local hospital in their
new grad program:yeah:
. I was told that there were over 100 applicants for less than 10 slots- GEESH!!
Pay is a little over $20/hr + shift diffs.
