May 2009 Graduates!!! Do you have a job yet?

Published

I was just curious if everyone is finding jobs? I personally only applied for one hospital as there are 4 within 30 miles from me, but the one I applied for is the closest. Everyone in my class including myself started applying in January and most of us interviewed in Feb. I haven't got a call yet but they said they would be calling this week....I am crossing my fingers!!!

Anyhow I know that everyone around here is pretty much not having a problem but I didn't know what it was like in other areas.

Whats the pay like?

benifits?

reimbursements?

The position I applied for actually is on the lower end of the pay scale, but the benefits and reimbursement outway what the other hospitals offer. So what factors did you calculate when finding your first job as an GN.

I am in the Detroit area and have had 3 interviews and been offered 3 jobs. Pay seems to be like $23-25.50. I know a lot of hospitals are going on hiring freezes right now though. I'm glad I applied a little early.

I just recently narrowed it down between all of my offers to one in CVICU. I live in Dallas and it pays 24/hr with great shift diffs.

I am very excited!

Sorry, I'd rather keep that confidential.

Graduate nurses need to consider general nursing jobs such as Med-surg. Most GN's are trying to go into specialty like ICU or L&D and getting rejected. Hospitals are nowing picking from within their system for those jobs. Now there is a whole crop of GN's trying to get into Med-Surg b/c there is nothing left. These hospitals only accept 5-10 nurses per internship area...The nurse managers are now randomly picking 5 people out the hundreds they interview, so don't take it personal. This whole recession thing is going to people's heads and even causing the medical filed to cut back when everyone knows we are always short staffed.

I am graduating June 2009, can anyone tell me of a good hospital to apply for in Kennewick, Washington. We are moving from New York to Washington State, will take boards in June 2009, anyone please help??

WOW! This is a little scary..or wayy scary!!! I am currently working on my RN (Associate's Degree) and since I am reading all of these posts I am wondering if I should just push for my RN Bachelors. Do you think that they would much rather hire someone with an RN and her Bachelor's than with an Associates. I am currently working on my prerequisites. Good luck to all of you, I hope that you all find something. God Bless.:redpinkhe
