  1. I have a huge concern. I am currently in school and hopefully after a year in med/surge I will get to travel as a traveling nurse. I met this girl over the weekend that after school she became a travelling nurse and now she is in major debt! She said that the company she was with brought her here and then the hospital laid her off and was out of work for two months! In the meantime, the agency couldn't help her, so she ended up in major debt because she had to use her credit cards to live on for the two months she was out of work. How did this happen to her being on an agency? How can you prevent it? Is this a risk I will be taking when I become a traveling nurse or was it bad planning on her part? Please help! Great advice will be greatly appreciated!
  2. Thank you for your advice. I guess that in the end, problems big or small will keep coming and all you can do is to keep going, after all, nobody else can accomplish your goals for you right? Thanks again.
  3. HI, I was just wondering wherer all of you get your strength from for continuing on with your education. I have been married to my husband since the age of 19. We both met in South Korea while in the military. Two months into dating he was diagnosed with Von-Hippel Lindau. A type of genetic kidney cancer. Well, this past December after moving all of our belongings to Louisiana into the new house he bought he told me he wanted a divorce ( I didn't do any cheating). I had to stay back to finish my semester in school. I continued on with this spring semester to try to keep me focused on something else but I withdrew in March. I now have 4 W's in my record. It was just too much. I am guessing it was just a premature marriage and that this is why we did not work. I will be going back to school in the summer time. But for future reference, how do you do it? How do you keep yourself focused? I am so worried about being accepted to any school out of state with 4 W'S in my record, so I have decided to stay here in Vegas and go to UNLV. I guess that my chances will be greater if I stay here. My focus now is to just accomplish my BSN. How do you prevent yourself from failing?
  4. I just got done reading some of the forums, from the new graduates. Please keep hope alive and pray pray pray that you get a job soon, prayer is a very powerful tool, you are all in my prayers. Honestly I am a little on confused side of town. I am currently working on my prerequisites for an associates degree in Nursing. From what I have been reading, the job market is a bummer nowadays in nursing. IN NURSING!?! Now we know that the economy is bad huh? Ok, moving on. I was wondering, a word of advice from the new Grads, since the economy is upset right now, if I should just push for my Bachelors. Would I have a better chance as an Rn with her Bachelor's or Associates in the job market hunt?. I do know that Bachelor's is more administrative but due tothe economy I don't know if I should push for a Bachelor's when trying to get a job. Please help.
  5. WOW! This is a little scary..or wayy scary!!! I am currently working on my RN (Associate's Degree) and since I am reading all of these posts I am wondering if I should just push for my RN Bachelors. Do you think that they would much rather hire someone with an RN and her Bachelor's than with an Associates. I am currently working on my prerequisites. Good luck to all of you, I hope that you all find something. God Bless.:redpinkhe
