Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) Spring 2020

Published

Hello,

I am starting this forum to see if anyone finished their application to the MCPHS Spring 2020 cohort yet?

I have a 3.06 cumulative gpa and a 3.21 gpa from the school I finished my bachelors in.

Does anyone know when we will receive admissions decisions?

Does anyone know if there are any accepted student days? Or if we can tour the campus/labs?

I don't believe there are any accepted student days. You can sign up to meet with an admissions advisor and they can give you a tour. My daughter is in school there so she showed me around. It is definitely worth going to see. It is a nice small campus set up. Impressive.

I was accepted to Boston campus - anyone going there?

Hey! I was also accepted to the Boston Campus for the post-bacc nursing program.

Does anyone know any current students enrolled in this program that can give us some more insight?

My daughter is currently at the Worcester Campus. She is in her 3rd semester. She really likes the school and says the teachers are amazing. They have recently changed their curriculum to meet the same standards as the Boston Campus. If you look at the website Boston had a 100% NCLEX success rate for their most recent report. See if the admissions office can set you to meet with a student at the Boston Campus. Meeting students has been important to me. Also, meeting with an advisor.

Hey guys! I applied a little late in the game for Spring 2020 but just got off the phone with an admissions counselor who said there are still spots for spring 2020 ABSN post-bacc program at Worcester (and maybe Boston he said?). I applied for Worcester. They will let me know by next week. Will anyone else be making a large move (I’m from California) if they get in/got in? I just want to know I’m making the right decision (if I get in) by moving so far!

I got into the Boston program. Kind of got freaked out from some of the reviews of the program so I still haven't 100% decided if I will go and I'm also waiting to hear back from a few other schools. But, if I do end up going here I'll be moving from AZ.

2018 NCLEX reports say that MCPHS Worcester has a 94% pass rate which is pretty good indication that the training is good. I have heard good things about new grads of MCPHS from nursing staff around here so I think regionally it has a good rep. Massachusetts is amazing, I moved from out of state and its definitely a new environment but Boston is super fun and Worcester is pretty fun too. Rent is pricey but compared to California (at least southern where I am from) it should not be too much of a shock.

What are the negative reviews!? I definitely want to know before moving across country ?

If you go to last years thread called "MCPHS Fall 2019 ABSN Program" and go to the last page of comments, two current students gave me their opinions on the program. One liked it and the other did not, both said that it was a lot of work and self studying. I keep playing phone tag with the counselor I was assigned for the Boston Campus. I want to ask her specific questions about the program layout(# of classes per week, clinical placements, etc) so I can see if I will do well there or not.

I’ll definitely have to go look. I want a school with a strong positive overview because I don’t want to risk moving and hating my life! It was slightly concerning that there were still spots open but I didn’t want to look into that too much. Do you have other options yourself?

My daughter is currently a student at MCPHS in Worcester. I can help with some answers. She also moved from California to go to MCPHS. There are two other students in her cohort who moved from CA, and she has a friend from CA looking to move here for Spring 2020 at Worcester. Both campuses have worked hard to bring up their NCLEX scores. Boston had 100% pass rate last report. Worcester has gone up to around 94%. My daughter is super happy there and she has a great cohort group. The best feedback is "go where you can get in. when you graduate you will be a nurse". I am currently deciding between the Worcester Campus and one other school. It is a tough choice.

Please ask if you want more information. Oh, one more thing, there are both classroom and online classwork. The first semester is a super heavy load. I believe all the schools are like that. You can ask the schools for the class schedule for the full program.
