Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) Spring 2020

Hello,

I am starting this forum to see if anyone finished their application to the MCPHS Spring 2020 cohort yet?

I have a 3.06 cumulative gpa and a 3.21 gpa from the school I finished my bachelors in.

Does anyone know when we will receive admissions decisions?

There are two other students in her cohort who moved from CA, and she has a friend from CA looking to move here for Spring 2020 at Worcester. Both campuses have worked hard to bring up their NCLEX scores. Boston had 100% pass rate last report. Worcester has gone up to around 94%. My daughter is super happy there and she has a great cohort group. The best feedback is "go where you can get in. when you graduate you will be a nurse". I am currently deciding between the Worcester Campus and one other school. It is a tough choice.

Please ask if you want more information. Oh, one more thing, there are both classroom and online classwork. The first semester is a super heavy load. I believe all the schools are like that. You can ask the schools for the class schedule for the full program.

Awesome! I will wait to see if I get admitted since I applied late and am getting ahead of myself ?? that is reassuring though. I actually have a friend who was going to go for Spring 2020 but got into a school in California so she won’t be going anymore but just told me she knows about 3 people in the program who are really liking it. So I appreciate hearing that. Your story actually sounds familiar and I’m getting a feeling this is a very small world and you might be the mother of one of the girls I worked with at an OBGYN practice who is going there now? If so, this is crazy! And thanks so much for your help.

Does anyone know what the schedule will be like? I am trying to debate switching to a midnight shift or just cut my hours down at my current job?

I have read some negative reviews on this school and saw they were on probation for this program. I have accepted at another school but am considering this because of the location, price and that it has dorming on campus. Has anyone heard anything on this program? I'm nervous about accepting with all the reviews I have read, and I saw an article in the Boston Globe about it.

I have heard they made amends to that and have adopted new technology to help students do well. Also I heard this was the Boston campus not the Worcester one.

Yes they have made a lot of good changes at the Boston campus. If you look their NXLEX score success is in the upper 90's. The worcester campus is adopting the same changes and is also doing well with the NCLEX. There is a projected course schedule online. If you want to see that go to their website.

How important do you think reputation is in a program like this? I am in at Northeastern but its SUPER expensive and didn't give money like this school did. I am starting to worry about owing a ton of loans.

What is most important is the best fit for you, and of course NCLEX success rate. The next most important is financial. I too am struggling as I got in to another school, that I feel is a better fit for me, but they did not give any money. MCPHS is a good school. Passing the NCLEX is what makes you a nurse. At the end of the day you will be a nurse no matter where you go. Good luck!

I don't know about fit. I didn't know much about MCPHS when I applied. Northeastern has a stellar reputation so I was drawn to them but now worried about money and MCPHS gave me some and I love that they have dorming for the nursing program and that its actually in Boston.

Yeah the probation was due to low NCLEX scores. Usually when a school gets put on probation they clean house and change everything. I think thats what they did because their NCLEX scores have been high since then.

This is the first program I've heard back from. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other schools. A few of the schools I applied to had their application deadlines today (Oct 15) for the spring semester start so hopefully I will hear something soon!
