Maricopa Skills Center's Question's

Published

I want to take the LPN route first as I just see it fitting my life at this point. I just want to know a little bit more about these centers I keep hearing about.

Do you have to have any pre req's for them?

How long is the LPN program?

If you went there, Do you have any advice?

cost of LPN program?

Is financial aid offered?

Hours of class?

Do they offer the LPN program at different center's or just one & if so which one?

Times of year the program is offered?

Any feedback from you all would be great as we all know getting info. from future, present or alumni students is SO much more helpful;)

the letter I received a week ago is 'pre-enrollment notification'.

it says, I meet the requirements for the program beginnig Jan 1 09.

but I have to do some paper work to ensure my spot by Nov14 08. like showing my fund or so. then my enrollment will be confirmed.

I'm thinking due to economy crisis, some students might turn down the offer. tuition of $7000 a year is not a small amount...

Yeah,

That "check in between 9-10, you must leave, and then come back at 2" is pure craziness! But, at this point I am running out of options and feel like I have to do something for this Spring. Anyone know how long the info session is? Also, I logged into the my.maricopa.edu and there is no option to register/info sheet for MSC.

when I attented the info session, it was about 1 hour long.

The skills center website states that the next info session is Nov 12th and they are accepting apps for the Jan. 2009 class. But further down is states app deadline is Oct 31st. Does anyone know if this class is still open or when the next class is? Also, whats the schedule like? Thanks!

I went to the September session and this is the info that I rec'd:

Program is 13 months (2 wk breaks between blocks)

Block A: 13 weeks, 6 hrs/day, 4 days/wk approx 8am-3pm with lunch and breaks. All classroom, no clinicals.

Block B: 16 weeks, with the 1st 6 weeks classroom, 4 days/wk, 6 hrs/day 8am-3pm, then the last 10 weeks in classroom 3 days with clinicals 1 day/wk (10 hours), could be on weekend.

Block C: 16 weeks with 1-2 wks in the classroom at 5 hours/day for 5 days/wk, then the last 15 weeks classroom 3 days and 1 day clinicals (10 hours).

Clinicals can be anywhere in the valley, will have some choice in location in Block B but no choice for Block C.

Total cost for program: $6344.88 tuition, lab fees $875, books $599.29.

Hope that helps. I just got my enrollment confirmation for January. They changed the start date to the 9th.

Hope this helps :)

When I went, they handed out the info sheet and told us to come back later. We just went to a nearby restaurant and hung out. The info session was a little over an hour and we were lucky to have the people there to do some immunizations and blood draws for titers, TB testing, etc. If you take your NET scores, they will give you the application that same day.

good morning,

did anyone attend the informational yesterday? can you post if there is any new information? how is it looking for january, etc.?

thanks

I am going down to see them today to do my funding verification, I will let you know if anything has changed. Are you waiting to get in or are you already going?

if it's not too much trouble, can you ask them about the schedule? right now, Im trying to plan things by your info that you got from september session. like clinical doesnt start until Block B : these things.

thanks a million!!

oh, and also can you ask them if we have any class on fridays when it says 4days/week? because I'd love to take some classes on friday from PC or Mesa CC.

thank you so much again:nuke:

I am sorry that I didn't get your messages before going this morning. I didn't even get to accomplish what I wanted to while there, kind of a wasted trip. I will let you know when I find out more, but it may not be till I go 1/10 to the orientation.

When I went to the orientation, they said it could be 4 days a week, it could be 5. Each block will be different. I wouldn't try scheduling anything else while in this program! Be prepared to be unprepared!
