I want to take the LPN route first as I just see it fitting my life at this point. I just want to know a little bit more about these centers I keep hearing about.
Do you have to have any pre req's for them?
How long is the LPN program?
If you went there, Do you have any advice?
cost of LPN program?
Is financial aid offered?
Hours of class?
Do they offer the LPN program at different center's or just one & if so which one?
Times of year the program is offered?
Any feedback from you all would be great as we all know getting info. from future, present or alumni students is SO much more helpful;)

I went to MSC about 3 years ago. You really should go to an information meeting because this info changes all the time. There is only one Maricopa Skill Center at it is located at 16th Street and Buckeye......very close to the airport.
The cost is high and financial aid is offered. Only they can tell you the exact cost, the hours of the program, and how long the wait list is.
The wait time was about 1 to 1.5 years when I went. I used that time to do prereqs, did block 1 and block 2 and MSC, then did block 3 and 4 at Glendale. I did not work as an LPN, went straight to block 3. This was the fastest, (but not cheapest), way to get my RN at the time.

Yes, you need to call them and go to an info session. They will answer all of your questions. There is no waiting list but you dont just get in, in one day either. It is a process. The tuition as of July is $7900 and some change. They offer financial aid. It's first come first serve but by the time you get your packet together you may not get in until April 2008. They always have an alternate list for those that didnt make it in to the next class and those peole get priority on the folllowing class. It will make more sense if you go down there and get all the info first hand. Im in the Oct. program. I will let ya know how it goes......

WOW tuition has really gone up, I graduated about 3 yrs ago and paid $2600 for the whole program.
Yeah, tell me about it!! I have to take out 2 loans and still don't have the whole thing covered! But, what are the other options, right??
That is really a lot for the LPN program. Also, Do you pay the 7900 for the LPN program & hten go on to pay another larger amount of money for the next 2 blocks to get your RN? So that 2 different tuitions.....wow:o

Does anyone know how long the wait is now for Maricopa Skills center? Is the TABE test pretty easy? What did you think of it? Any answers from those of you in the program or alumni's!!! Thanks!!! :)
The TABE test was easy for me, its just basic math, and english...
I thought the program was OK, they had a lot of issues, I graduated 4 yrs ago, and I know things have changed. I tell people, to continue to take all the pre req's if you are waiting to get into program...
Hello! I passed the TABE! Thanks for all the helpful advice! It was easier than I thought!
Reading was easy, the math was mostly fractions, decimals and simple word problems, only 3 Geometry questions. Thanks! I am on my way!
That is great to hear ! Congrats, keep us informed when you start your program.

I just passed the TABE test last week.
on the version I took, there were 25 questions each; reading 25min, math 25min, applied math 15min.
i dont know about the math, but in reading you have to have 21 out of 25 correct answers to pass.
math part was really easy, if you understand middle school math or maybe 5th grade math, you will do fine.
after I took the TABE test, the lady in the test room took me to student service room which is next door, and they gave me an application finally.
here are some info that I got at the info session;
most likely I'm gonna go to MSC although I'll submit application to Maricopa Comm. College Nursing Program at the end of this semester for the slim chance that I can get into their programs in Fall08. (im working on my last 2 pre-reqs now:specs:.)

It's interesting, Im in the March program and have not been told about the 6:30 am thing or that Sat/Sun are possiblities. Im a little irritated actually! I need to call them. Im strongly considering withdrawling anyways and just doing my LPN at Gateway. It's half the cost and I can get an agency to sponsor me....UGH why does this always seem to happen? Once I commit myself to something, things always seem to go off course! Maybe jut forget the LPN altogether and go straight for RN?
