I want to take the LPN route first as I just see it fitting my life at this point. I just want to know a little bit more about these centers I keep hearing about.
Do you have to have any pre req's for them?
How long is the LPN program?
If you went there, Do you have any advice?
cost of LPN program?
Is financial aid offered?
Hours of class?
Do they offer the LPN program at different center's or just one & if so which one?
Times of year the program is offered?
Any feedback from you all would be great as we all know getting info. from future, present or alumni students is SO much more helpful;)
I received a letter from the financial aid office on Dec23.
it only took them less than 2 months to process my pettitiion.
I guess their new system has sarted to work out now.
BTW, seems like the pell grant will at least cover my tuition ... yaye :)
(when I called them a few weeks ago, they told me it would be $1200 for 6 months..)
I'm hoping to receive an answer within the week about entrance into the may class it is like waiting to give birth, slow and painful. The NET scores is what theyre basing there decision on, but they wont tell you anymore than 50 for math, 60 for reading. Anybody in the program now?? What were your NET scores???
Thanks
I had an 87 in Math and a 64 in Reading~it took them about a month longer than they said it would to let us know if we were in or not. Once you get past the administrative BS that is so disorganized...the classes and instructors are good...I was in Block A but had to take a LOA till the Fall. Good luck 2 U! MT Quizzes are easy if you study the entire chapter and do the workbook. Nutrition is also easy as long as you do the Study Guides. Basic Skills is probably the hardest class and Structure and Function is a lot of homework, but not hard if you have had any Anatomy course before...even if not, the instructor is awesome and makes it as easy as she can. Plan on having a few hours a night of homework on a regular basis and don't let yourself fall behind...
Great!! Thanks for your help. Will you be returning to MSC this fall? And also did you have problems getting FA approval. I have been trying to get everything in and done, in the hope of getting an acceptance letter next week, but it seems like a failing system in a sense because they dont want to work on the funding aspect of it, until you have been accepted into a specific program. Any info you can offer would be great!!
I am planning to return in September. I did have some issues with FA for sure! It took them at least a month after I had been attending to get it done, but they allowed several students to attend their classes while they were figuring things out~with out a down payment, but special circumstance, I am sure. The new FA lady is very helpful and she had to come into quite a mess that she is working to straighten out. I am sure she will be able to help you, if you can manage to get to talk with her.

Is that guy in FA gone?
I was told that they will do acceptance letters in waves, so that if anyone in the 1st wave has changed their minds, they can offer the 2nd wave spots. Did yours go that way? Also, how were you contacted about your acceptance? Mail, email, phone call? and if you called earlier would they tell you over the phone? or make you wait? thanks

I am currently in Block B! Plan to be there 5 days a week in the beginning, but some weeks you will have Friday off! There are a few instructors that work adj and teach other Blocks! For us in Block B we have Fridays off! Then when clinicals start we will be in lecture 3 days a week, then one day of clinical.
This program is not easy, Block A is a refresher with some introduction to nursing. Once Block B came around I really had to "buckle down" and study! It is not super hard just a lot of information! We are learning that if you really want to be a nurse you have to work for it! The information is not boring and the instructors are very knowledgable!
Little bit of advice! Don't come in late! Especially in Block B! Know your medical terminology and do the study guides for S&F!
Good luck!! It is worth it!
