Maricopa Skills Center's Question's

Published

I want to take the LPN route first as I just see it fitting my life at this point. I just want to know a little bit more about these centers I keep hearing about.

Do you have to have any pre req's for them?

How long is the LPN program?

If you went there, Do you have any advice?

cost of LPN program?

Is financial aid offered?

Hours of class?

Do they offer the LPN program at different center's or just one & if so which one?

Times of year the program is offered?

Any feedback from you all would be great as we all know getting info. from future, present or alumni students is SO much more helpful;)

thank you so much for such helpful info!!

Im sooo nervouse, though. thiking 'what if i dont get accepted?'

I really hope to see you in Jan.

thanx, again

Any new info yet???

Congrats! I know you were worried...cool, Im happy you're in!!:yeah:

thank you, sassieb

yea, I was really really worried.

Alright, it's time to register for Spring 09. I'm willing to take ENG102 (that's my last co-req), but I don't know what day or what time will be possible for me to go to either PC or SCC once I start the LPN program at MSC. (I'm not a online person)

so, those who are alredy in the program in MSC, can you tell me what your daily schedule is like? I'd love to take evening classes, instead of weekend.

thank you:heartbeat

I know you said you are NOT an online person. But, I found the English at RIO to be quite easy! I really think it would be the easiest way for you to do the LPN and the English at the same time! Just my opinion of course!

sassieb,

hmm, then Rio could be my option

I have some question

was there a lot of papaers to write?

how was the final like? or quizzes?

if you had any question, did the teacher respond to you quickly?

is it possible to get an A in that class?

thank you for taking your time.

So, this iwas my experience. I wrote aproximately one paper w week. They were due at the end of business on Monday. I literally started my paper on Monday, and finished. I know this is NOT how things should be done, but I had a baby at home and It was my first online class. I was NOT very in to school at that point. I got a "B", but really could and should have gotten an "A". My instructor alwasy got back to me within a day or so. Usually that same day I had a question. But, I didn't really have any questions. There were tutorials with each lesson. The information was fairly easy to comprehend. The truth is, I didn't try very hard, and that is why Im not willing to try other classes online. Like Math. I know that would NOT be good. But english and critical reading I did do online and Im glad I did! The final was just a paper. There were only a few quizzes and I dont really remember them so I'm pretty sure they were no brainers. I don't want to offend anyone who may not be good in english, as Im NO good in math. But, this was my experience.

hmmm. one paper a week... do you mean one page paper? if so, it sounds doable. but my understanding is that ENG102 is about research paper, right? like, go to the library, find sources like periodicals, write a papper, re-write it, and re-write it again... i dont know if I can do that every Monday...

the PSY101 online class which I dropped on the very first day required lots of writing, like some 8-10 pages paper. so I'm really obsessed with the number of pages. 1 page and 8 pages are different, right?

or I should take the class during the summer....

The skills center website states that the next info session is Nov 12th and they are accepting apps for the Jan. 2009 class. But further down is states app deadline is Oct 31st. Does anyone know if this class is still open or when the next class is? Also, whats the schedule like? Thanks!

I believe it's 8:30-3:30. M-F. I heard somewhere that it was an occasional friday, so not sure. I saw that info on the site too. Maybe they haven't filled the Jan. class yet? You never know. I'd turn in and app. if I were you....people always decline the spots or don't show up to the first day. If you call, they might tell youif the class is full. Did you read that you have to register for teh information session in the morning and then go BACK in the afternoon? It's like a half hour drive away for me. That's NOT cool!
