Macy's is Open

Published

With unseasonably warm weather over the weekend continuing today, I am anticipating many visitors to my "Macys" for dress code violations. Unfortunately pickings are slim this time of year. Not looking forward to the eyeball roll when I offer one of my middle school girls the bright turquoise sweat pants in my clothing line

I am out of clothes for the year. I got dumped with the extra clothes and got shunted all the people with uniform violations. I told my admins that I didn't have the time or desire to run down the clothes.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of this. It seems to be more of a way to try to embarrass a student than to get them to respect the rules. I'm not saying it's not effective, but it's not my favorite form of discipline.

I get that. Really, it gets to kids to figure out other alternatives, and be responsible for their own actions. I wouldn't like this for Elem. kid. But, for this situation, it has worked for a long time. There are a few (less readily available) shirts that don't have the "Principal" stamp on them, but sometimes, this just needs to be the option.

Wow, this (former) school nurse did not have a Macys line of clothing. Or any line of clothing. Parents were called and that was it.

Of course, I didn't have an office on any campus; just at the D.O.

(My pet peeve is the school-sanctioned volleyball shorts that the girls are allowed to wear; you know the ones that are so butt-hugging short that the girls spend most of their game time digging the shorts out of their crotch  ).

When I was a nursing student doing clinical days with a middle-school SN, she sent a girl home who came to school wearing pajamas. The girl was not happy at all about it...

I don't know if mommy had 'em on too, but we wouldn't be surprised, would we?
