So, I said I would start this one after orientation so we could all have one thread to talk about things under instead of 10. What did everyone think of orientation? Any un-answered questions? And what start date is everyone requesting? Yay for the new uniforms/prices!

I say go for it. You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders so you should be fine. I took the one online...something about lifestyle risk and and it was so easy I was embarrassed to take it. A lot of busy work, but brainless busy work.

Thanks, do you remember the name of your instructor?

Orna, I am considering taking the PHED 2010 the 1st 8wks. I went on ratemyprofessors.com and typed in the instructor's names. The one with initials T.A. sounded like the best teacher option. The one that teaches the 2020 class didn't rate very well. Let me know what u choose. Maybe we will take the same class.

hhmm....I may have to reconsider then. Maybe 2010 would be easy for us because we already had Nutrition! I'll think about it and let you know.

Corazon or A4L4S - I saw that Corazon recommended not buying everything that they recommend as far as books go. Are there are that were important for the class, but you haven't really looked at now that you're done with it? I'm all about keeping the cost down, and I've done so in my pre-req classes using Chegg.com to rent the books MUCH cheaper than buying them. I'm not starting till March, and we all know the cirriculum has changed slightly, but again, anything you never looked at after the 8 weeks were over?

I sold back my Pediatric book, Mental Health book, Maternity book, Taylor (but kept the clinical skills soft Taylor book), tried to sell back Wilson but there is a new edition. Iggy (for med-surg 1-2) seems like it will be worth keeping....unless they will give big money for it.

I agree with Corazon about all the small books being a huge waste of money. Didn't even open them.

Shawn- I will see if I kept anything from my phed class that has an instructor named. I probably trashed it all!

Has anyone actually ordered their scrubs and picked them up yet? I guess it's time I should start thinking about that..lol.

I ordered mine after the orientation thing....was in the bookstore the other day asking about books and stuff but books and/or scrubs and patches weren't in yet.

I did the same thing. I tried to buy the books for HHSC and they told me try next week. I just was nervous with all the assignments to do that I thought I should get started on the reading. I'm trying again Monday after I meet with Financial Aid.

does anyone know how we are supposed to make our personal health record?

I didn't do any reading at all the 2nd year and ended up with all B's or higher. But I'm really smart.

Hello everyone!!

I am an august starter.....for those of you who may have been wondering (I was) the scrubs and patches are due to come in this afternoon to the bookstore (Aug 2) I just called cuz I had not heard anything since I ordered them back in June!

Does anyone know why there are still 2 spots available to register for the October 1145-1175 classes? I was told by the office that August and October were completely full. I am a March start and would love it if there is some movement in the rankings so that I might hopefully begin in January instead.

I went to get my uniforms today, and what a hassle it was! My order wasn't there, although when I called, someone confirmed it was (I placed it the same day as our orientation). Luckily, they had 2 small tops and plenty of patches, so I was in luck...I didn't order pants from them because I was going to try to match them up with a different brand that had pants with more of a bootcut/flair cut to them... drove all the way to Ferndale to a scrub store out there..... no luck. Our uniforms are "royal blue" but they actually have a hint of navy in them when you hold them up to other true royal blues. I then tried on my small top while I was at that store, and it was HUGE. soooo.... I drove BACK out to Center and exchanged them for extra smalls and tried to get their pants... but they are out of sizes XS-M, so make sure you call them before you go to make sure they either have your order, or have gotten their shipment of smaller pants sizes.

I went to the bookstore as well, so I could get my books for the HHSC 1040 course and they do not have Standards and Scope of Nursing practice in right now. They also do not have the nursing packs in either. I currently have to wait right now to get books due to financial aid not being readily available until 9 days before classes start. However, I plan on paying for my HHSC 1040 books. I wasn't able to get my scrubs today, because they do not have any XS scrub pants in.
