So, I said I would start this one after orientation so we could all have one thread to talk about things under instead of 10. What did everyone think of orientation? Any un-answered questions? And what start date is everyone requesting? Yay for the new uniforms/prices!

wadie - it was also my understanding that you need the scrubs for lab on campus.

Does anyone know the earliest that books can be purchased using a Pell Grant?

for the pell grant we can ask for an advance for books for august 13th you will have to go to fin. aid and talk to them.

Lisa - it becomes available Friday, and any money you don't use will be refunded to your higher one card 4 weeks after the start of the fall classes, due to their new attendance policy.... people have been taking the money and not showing up to class, so now they're implementing some sort of minimum attendance before you can receive the rest... which kind of sucks because i was trying to buy all my books used from amazon or rent them from chegg, but 4 weeks after the start of class is too long to wait. oh well.

Yes I sat in the financial aid office for over an hour today only to have them tell me that I will have to go back on friday to request a book advance cuz that is the earliest they can do it...hopefully it is a quick process. Oh and you have to go to south campus friday cuz the financial aid office at center is closed. If you do not request the book advance funds will not be available til monday the 16th.

If I go to South will they have all the books we need at Center or do I have to come back to our bookstore after I meet with financial aid? I only need the HHSC book for Nursing, the rest are all gen ed classes (I don't start until March).

Lauren, did you figure out if you will be renting your books for HHSC?

HHSC/nursing classes aren't offered at south, so I'm assuming that they wouldn't have those books at the south bookstore. i dont NEED the books this friday, so i'll just wait till next week monday and go get them all at once (the ones for my gen. ed too), and hopefully they'll have the nursing pack and the smaller scrub pants by then. if i rent books from center, can i return them to south?

i think i'll buy the books for HHSC (but not from macomb, amazon is cheaper) since im going to need them again - i just want to find out which ones we HAVE to have, and which are just extra/recommended.

I dont blame you for waiting! unfortunately my HHSC class starts the 16th so I have no choice but to go friday...

I will let you know which books we use during the class.

Lauren - the nurse packs are only available to those that are starting the program. The office said that they have a list of approved students that can purchase them.

Hello future nurses,

I have a couple of questions I hope somebody may help me out with.

First, I was unaware of a nurse pack, what is it, when do I need it, does anyone know if they have the nurse packs in yet and if so how much?

Second, has anyone tried to complete their personal medical record? I have went to all 3 websites posted and could not find anything that related to personal medical records.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am extremely frustrated as to how disorganized this program seems.

I had a little trouble finding out how to get the personal medical record started too. I did get the book Using The Electronic Health Record (it was recommended) and on Page 180-184 it talked all about PHR (personal health record), I'm assuming is the same, it shows what to include in your PHR and I found it helpful. Also, page 375 in Fundamentals book lists some different websites to try. Good Luck All! I hope this helps!:)
