2014 LPN students

Published

This thread is for those who is about to start LPN program. It will be great if we keep each other posted on our excited journey, share the experience and maybe answer questions that others will have about the program.

So, i guess i start. On July 11 i will be starting 11 months long program at one of the local technical schools. My mandatory orientation is on June 10 where, according to letter that I received, we will be given our first homework (a month before the actual course starts!!!). I am 31 y.o married and have a 3 y.o son. I work as a CNA and I will continue working p.t during the program. I am very nervous because I haven't take any science classes since high school. English is my second language but that will not be a problem. I chose the LPN path because I love to work at the patience bedside, i can earn decent money and gain more hands on experience. I am planing to further my education after becoming LPN.

I am wishing everyone who is about to start or just started good luck! Lets do it together

Hi, just got part of my books from book store. Waited in line for 2 hours. They were very unorganized. They were not taking any loan monies. She said she would have other books later today. The lab kit and books costed over 500$ and I still need to get med surge and fundamentals 1 and 2 and medical dictionary. Probly going to be 500 more dollars.

Nursing books are expensive, y'all! I recommend getting ISBN numbers and checking on amazon, eBay, etc for better prices. I do that every year and am still able to sell the books back at my campus bookstore.

I only got two books from the bookstore this morning!!! I got the rest of my books off of eBay. Much much cheaper!!!! Now I just have to get my nursing pack, which they had ran out of!! Ugh!! But very excited. I have all my supplies and books and just got my scrubs. Starting Monday!!! :)

First day of lpn classes!!! Sitting in class waiting for it to start and I can barely contain my excitement ?????

Let us know how it goes, ejones4!! So excited for you!

I start tomorrow! I feel like I'm going to throw up! So excited and nervous.

First day and they piled on three more books and home work. People asking me to run them around even though I told them ahead of time I won't have time for it. Very annoying of them. Met some grads from last year and the teachers. They seemed very nice they explained what's expected. Hope everyone has a great semester.

Hi jeffernator! I was recently accepted to the Fall full time LPN program at the WI campus. I got the call while I was out of town on vacation and was unable to attend orientation yesterday. Did you go? If so, do you mind if I ask you some questions?

I'm so sorry! I only log in around once a week and didn't catch it until now :( Yes, you are free to ask whatever you want if you still haven't gotten an answer yet.

Yes! Just have to be determined and know upfront you won't have a lot of extra time to spend with her during the program. It's only a short time though and it's benefitting you both! Good luck!!
