This thread is for those who is about to start LPN program. It will be great if we keep each other posted on our excited journey, share the experience and maybe answer questions that others will have about the program.
So, i guess i start. On July 11 i will be starting 11 months long program at one of the local technical schools. My mandatory orientation is on June 10 where, according to letter that I received, we will be given our first homework (a month before the actual course starts!!!). I am 31 y.o married and have a 3 y.o son. I work as a CNA and I will continue working p.t during the program. I am very nervous because I haven't take any science classes since high school. English is my second language but that will not be a problem. I chose the LPN path because I love to work at the patience bedside, i can earn decent money and gain more hands on experience. I am planing to further my education after becoming LPN.
I am wishing everyone who is about to start or just started good luck! Lets do it together
I met with the financial aid department at ATS and the program is REALLY expensive, I believe it is almost $32,000 and loans covered $19,000 and I have a little over $12,000 to pay out of pocket. My job offers tuition reimbursement which should cover about $8-10,000 so I should be o.k. Orientation is next Thursday 8/7/2014 and even though the prices are expensive I am excited about the challenges ahead!!!!

I start August 26th...58 years old and following a dream. Was shocked to have made it in after being out of school for 40 years. Good Luck on all you do.
Hey everyone. I just got accepted to the full time Skagit Valley College Practical Nursing program on Whidbey Island in Washington state. I start in late September this year. I've been a caregiver for people with developmental disabilities for four years. It's been a very rewarding experience but it was time to take my career to the next level. So awesome to think that by next year I'll be a real, live nurse! I'm turning 26 soon, no wife, no kids--nothing to worry about but nursing! Bring it on!
Hi jeffernator! I was recently accepted to the Fall full time LPN program at the WI campus. I got the call while I was out of town on vacation and was unable to attend orientation yesterday. Did you go? If so, do you mind if I ask you some questions?
Hi guys I started the LPN program on 6/30 we are already done with two classes. Medical dosage and Success Skills. We started our new quarter yesterday and already have a test over 7 chapters for only the CNA class. We will be taking anatomy and med term in the next two days. I am nervous but so excited. Tips for anatomy would be greatly appreciated, but mainly keep your reading up because you will fall behind if you dont, it is a lot of work ?
One week till school starts and I'm getting more stressed. Been very busy the past week. Going to be even more busy this week. Got uniforms Thu and I have yet to iron them. Want to get hair cut but don't know if I will make it happen. I have to get oil changed in car and get a used tire. Also I pick my books up tomorrow and order lab kit. Hold your head up high future nurses we can do this!
