This thread is for those who is about to start LPN program. It will be great if we keep each other posted on our excited journey, share the experience and maybe answer questions that others will have about the program.
So, i guess i start. On July 11 i will be starting 11 months long program at one of the local technical schools. My mandatory orientation is on June 10 where, according to letter that I received, we will be given our first homework (a month before the actual course starts!!!). I am 31 y.o married and have a 3 y.o son. I work as a CNA and I will continue working p.t during the program. I am very nervous because I haven't take any science classes since high school. English is my second language but that will not be a problem. I chose the LPN path because I love to work at the patience bedside, i can earn decent money and gain more hands on experience. I am planing to further my education after becoming LPN.
I am wishing everyone who is about to start or just started good luck! Lets do it together

New here! I've kind of been reading around until I found out if I got accepted into a program. I got accepted my first time. Last year there were 150 applicants, this year there were 70. I attend snow college in Utah, 9 month program. Pretty nervous but ready. I'm 22 with two small children, she's 3 and he's 4. Work in a rehab facility one night a week and will continue that during school. I start August 20th!! Good luck everyone!!

I am in upstate New York. I start my 11-month porgram in August. After I am able to get the CNA certification, I plan to TRY to work as a CNA while I finish school. Once I graduate, I want to work as an LPN and try to continue for my RN. :)
I also have two young daughters, ages almost 5 and 8. I am very nervous :S

Ill be starting in August. I intend to blog about my experiences on here and on a blog. I live in Northern Mississippi, close to Memphis, Tennessee. Im looking forward to the journey but sometimes knowing that ill be the minority in the sorority is a little nerve wrecking. Nonetheless, I'm excited to begin my journey into such a rewarding career. I hope we can look back on this forum and pick one another up sometimes!

Hi! I'm Shannon from Detroit, MI. I am the lead pharmacy technician at a hospital here, mother of a 1 & 1/2 year old princess, and getting married next May. I am excited about finally starting an LPN program (after waitlists and accreditation issues, etc...). Let's keep each other uplifted and motivated.
So I had my mandatory orientation and to say it was overwhelming is not to say anything. As we were promised, we got our first homework with bunch of tests(on Quia.com) that we have to turn in before the official beginning of the class. We met with our instructors and with the students of the class that will be graduating this year. It was very helpful, at least for me, because I was able to ask some questions and get few great tips on how to study and manage my time. I want to share with some of the advice that we got from the class of 2013-2014
1 Make quizlet your best friend to study
2 Invest in a planner/calendar. Keeping assignments/dates organized is necessary
3 Never compromise your sleep
4 Commit to teaching yourself at least 2 new drugs every week
5 Studying for a test will be much less overwhelming if you review the days lecture every evening
6 be present. When u r in class be focused on class.
7 stick to it, work hard, be committed and you will succeed
Bought nclex on book today. I heard it will help with studies. Has already been very informative. Feeling more real everyday.

I'm starting June 30th and very nervous. I'm going to be working full time while going to school. I heard that the program is intense, so I know a little of what to expect. Orientation is June 25th. Zalina, thanks for some of the advice that you gave; I think it would really help me with the program. I hope I can keep in touch with all of you while going through the program.
