  1. Yes! Just have to be determined and know upfront you won't have a lot of extra time to spend with her during the program. It's only a short time though and it's benefitting you both! Good luck!!
  2. Anyone else's program require wearing scrubs to class? Mine does and we just found out today. I'm pretty excited!
  3. Nursing books are expensive, y'all! I recommend getting ISBN numbers and checking on amazon, eBay, etc for better prices. I do that every year and am still able to sell the books back at my campus bookstore.
  4. I start my LPN program at PRCC in South Mississippi August 18th! Can't wait to get back on the nursing journey. I am currently a CNA and have been for 2 1/2 years. I was previously in a BSN program here (long painful story) and had to leave due to personal reasons. I am so excited to start over! I have a wonderful fiance' and a beautiful 11 month old boy. A few tips I can say are: 1) Use your resources!! ANYTHING/ANYONE that can help you, take note of it. 2) DONT overcommit to extra curricular activities no matter how much you love them. I did that in my BSN program and it will just about run you ragged and its impossible to keep your grades up. 3) Take care of yourself. Stay healthy, go to the gym, destress as much as possible, never compromise your sleep. Don't let the stress catch up to you! Your brain/body cannot function the way you will need it to (top notch) on no sleep and tons of sugar/caffeine. 4) Ask questions! Don't be afraid. There are no stupid questions. You can ask nurses, teachers, clinical instructors, friends on this website, CNAs, etc. The more you learn, the better nurse you'll be. We can all do this together!! :)
  5. Hey, I'm Andrea! I start my LPN program on August 18 at Pearl River Community College in MS! I have previously been in the first two semesters of a BSN program here (long painful story), and I'm a CNA, so I have a little bit of experience. Lean on your classmates!!
  6. I also suggest brushing up on your dosage and calculation and A&P. The more you understand and remember about the body and how it works, the easier it will be for you to learn patho and pharm. The main thing I cannot stress enough is DO NOT CRAM BEFORE A TEST. It's so important to know and understand the material you are learning and not just memorize it. Doing so will help you so much for the rest of nursing school because each class builds on one another. Get your exercise and take some "me" time whenever possible. I started out letting my stress build up, and it eventually got so bad that I was constantly sick, gaining weight (because I stopped taking time to eat well and go to the gym to replace that time with studying) and I was doing terribly in my classes. Don't do that!! Just thought I'd leave you with a little experienced advise in what NOT to do there! :)
