First, I want to give major KUDOS to those of you who work and/or have children to take care of and somehow manage to get through all these difficult classes!!!
I'm taking:
Intro to Micro
Developmental Psychology
Professional Transitions (wayyy more in-depth than I thought!)
and.........
I am challenging the medication calculations class by taking an exam---I've been working sooo hard on that---math= yuck! -I hope I can pass!
We also have to take a written exam and demonstrate hands-on skills in the lab to prove our knowledge/skills before we are considered for the RN program.

I actually have started the nursing component of the LPN-RN bridge program!!! This term I am in Transitions into Professional Nursing for the first 8 weeks and then after spring break I will be in Maternal/Child (OB/PEDS) for the last 4 weeks of the term. I have just finished my first week...WHEW! At first it was a bit overwhelming but I am finding that as I get more organized it is getting better. The program I am attending has all of the nursing classes online and the only time you go to class is for nursing lab to check off skills or to clinical rotations 1 day a week. The lab is a bit intimidating because I have 21 skills that have to be checked off in 8 weeks! Once I get that out of the way I think I will feel better. :barf01: Well good luck to all this term and check in now and again to say how things are going for everyone.

Hello.
I'm taking Fundamentals. I didn't know this would be alot of critical thinking. I have all my prereqs done, so I'll just be taking nursing classes which is hard enough. I can't imagine taking any other classes with this one.

I am in the LVN to RN transition class right now. I'm also taking some computer class required for the nursing program & a speech class. I should be entering the RN program in the 3rd semester this fall & should be graduating in the spring.
In my transition class we are spending the first 9 weeks working on care plans & then we'll spend the 2nd 9 weeks getting checked off for skills.

Hi Rad,
I'm takin' family as well and really wasn't lookin' forward to it goin' in but have done pretty good so far (only about 1.5 mos. into it though).
I found 2 really great resource books that have helped a LOT:
Hogan, M., Glazebrook, R. (2003) Maternal-Newborn Nursing: Reviews & Rationales, Prentice Hall Nursing. ISBN: 0-13-030456-5.
Hogan, M., White, J. (2003) Child Health Nursing: Reviews & Rationales, Prentice Hall Nursing. ISBN: 0-13-030452-2.
They have summaries similiar to the NCLEX review books with pretest & posttest questions. And it comes with a CD that also has NCLEX questions. It's really great b/c they give you the rationales as well. This really helped me b/c even though I didn't get the exact same questions on my test, I had similiar questions and I was able to lean back on those rationales which addressed several issues.
I don't know how they're runnin' your class but ours consisted of almost 22 chapters to review for our 1st test and w/ work, care plans and clinicals I just don't have the time (literally) to wade through all of it.
Hope this helps and wish you good luck! :)
Kelly,
Thanks for the input. I'll definately check out the books you suggested. Like you I'm into the program 1.5 semesters and can't wait to gratuate!!! One semester at a time:) hang in there yourself and keep on trucken!
