"Easy" jobs in healthcare are hard to come by. I work in ER and we get our share of everything, maggots, scabies, lice, vomit, feces etc. I have some friends who work in an Eye Surgery Center and they like it but they all want to use their "skills" before they lose them. If you want a job that you can do while studying or preparing to something else like say RN then definitely home health or assisted living will be the way to go. I guess it depends on what your personal goals are in nursing.

I graduated LVN last August and started RN about 5 months later. I think it is the best way to go especially if you need to keep a job while pursuing your RN. I have found soooo much flexibility in nursing that I am able to juggle two different jobs and keep up with school.

I found NCLEX to be more tricky.

I found out today that I got 88% on the exam!!!! Yeah. Now I can save a whole lot of money at Mount St. Mary's.Good luck to all who may have to take this exam.

I took it today in Los Angeles. I was no where near as crazy as NCLEX. Just review your acid/base balance, Diabetes, Nutrition, Post-Op, Labor and Delivery, vaccination schedule, there are a ton of prioritizng questions, I only got 3 calculation questions (D/H) and one IV rate calculation,PT/PTT, Heparin, Coumadin, open ended communication, body mechanics, sterile technique, wound care, confidentiality, informed consent Pretty much everything you learned in LVN/LPN school but not soooo detailed. Everything involved a safety aspect. The thing I like most about the exam was that they have actually highlighted key terms that we usuallly "didn't see" example, Which nursing action shoud be AVOIDED? That was always a killer for me. I think you have made a wise decision. I was an EMT/ER Tech for 5 years before going to LVN and I started RN school just 4 months after getting my LVN so it's doable and it does help keep you off all the waiting lists for RN in California right now! I know that your Paramedic training will serve you well but you will no doubt annoy the hell out of your instructors because you will "know everything!" Go on with your bad self!!!! I am taking English 102, Philosophy and Religious Studies I got my LVN October 2005 and am starting RN this Wednesday. I am soooo excited! Thankfully I took all my science and other prereqs before LVN.

I know all too well how you must be feeling! I am in Los Angeles and had to wait 21 days for my results. I passed with 85 questions! It is the worst feeling going to the mailbox day after day, trust me I know. Just put it all in God's hands. Everything will work out according to his plan! I took the NCLEX PN on September 28th in Gardena, CA. You have know idea how much stress I have been under for the last 3 weeks. I just found out today that I passed!!!! I had 85 questions and was pretty confident that I passed, but as the weeks passed I began to panic! For all those who are waiting in California, don't listen to what anyone says about not getting results back fast is bad news. i was wondering, does the bvnpt give you the license number online before you have paid the $100.00 license fee? how soon can i check online to see if i passed or is it really a month i have to wait?

Did anyone forget to put leading zeros on the calculations? I did!!!

I would definitely study the areas you had difficulties in your program on. My questions seemed to get harder and harder on things like cultural practices like preparing the deceased body and a lot of nutrition and infection control. I've been told that if you get progressively harder questions on items then you're doing ok. Who knows? I am waiting to see how it went.Good news I only got one cardiac and one insulin question. I only got three D/H so I guess we will see... :uhoh21:
