LPN pay

Im an LPN and have been for 2 years. My base pay in LTC is 15, but with shift diff. and working every fri, sat and sun I make 18 at 32 hours a week.

I did prn at a hospital a year ago and started at 17 base. I live in northern Ky.

I work for a Plastic Surgeon...I am his only nurse.

$21.00/hour

$100.00/month for traveling expenses

uniform allowance

Holiday bonus $1500.00

I have been at this job for 14 months....rec'd one raise and I am due for a another.

Also get alot of " perks " working for a Plastic Surgeon :yelclap:

I am interested in what people out there are making per hour as an LPN and also what state you work in. What you started out at after graduation vs. now with some experience would be great too. Thanks a lot for sharing!

You have assumed wrong! LPN as most states call them,( except California, and Texas) do provide nursing care, administer meds(including IV) do drsg treatments, draw blood, etc. In many areas they do the same thing as RNs, with different restrictions depending on the facility, and state. They work under the direct or indirect supervision of an RN, or MD.

There is no way an LPN does the same thing as an RN. I have heard a lot of LPN's say that and I refer them to the Nursing Practice Act. Anything else done beyond what's in the practice act is your choice but illegal..

I'm five months into my little FL 14-month LPN tech program, and if I can stay with it I should graduate and take the NCLEX in June of next year. A google search for LPN wages shows FL new LPNs getting at least $12-15 per hour. My wife, a recent grad working in a nursing home, gets around 16 per hour. Query: is it worth the risks, pain and strain when you can get $12 per hour at Home Depot? And are the Google site numbers way out of whack, since they show higher pay for a lot of the places reported above?

There is no way an LPN does the same thing as an RN. I have heard a lot of LPN's say that and I refer them to the Nursing Practice Act. Anything else done beyond what's in the practice act is your choice but illegal..

I work as a CNA in a small rural hospital in IN and I started out with no hospital experience making more than an LPN in VA! I thought my pay stunk, but it doesn't compare. How much does a CNA make?

I presently make $10.30/hr, the .30 cents came from the big annual raise we got! LOL!!

I work at a LTC in Cleveland Ohio, baylor program.......work 24 get paid for 30 a week, and take home $25 an hour...been there for 2 yrs.....do not have insurance (by choice-have through hubbys job) maybe why hour wage is higher!

in our facility here is the breakdown of wages(we are unionized). the (+) is starting wage and up, it is higher the more years you have at the facility:

cna- $11.98+

lpn: $15.60+

rn: $27.00+

Brand new LPN (yippee!) here. I make $13.50 base with $1.50 night differential. Not a whole lot of money by any stretch of the imagination- but it's more than I made doing cashiering at Olive Garden. And it is 100X more fulfilling!

Wow, I can't believe we nurses complain about our pay. I live in CT, i have been a LPN for 4 years and I make $25/hr. I started as a graduate nurse at 22/hr. I work in LTC.
