  1. Couple of thoughts. My wife hurt her coccyx in a fall accident where she didn't hit on her tailbone but apparently displaced the joints nonetheless. Have you given any thought to an xray study just to see what's up, or down? Of course there are risks from the ionizing exposure, but if it's getting worse you might want to consider it. Also, there are a number of Google articles on "vestigial tails" and various manifestations of spina bifida (some are pretty obscure and subtle) and other unusual spinal conditions. My wife gained a lot of weight and is losing some now, and she has discovered that if she does crunches and strengthens her back and abdominal muscles, the coccyx problem is considerably reduced. Take care of your back -- it's the only one you get.
