Afer you passed NCLEX, how fast did you find a job?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Hi, I am taking the NCLEX PN in a week..I am not working right now so money is kind of tight for me..Do you find a job quickly after you passed the NCLEX and got your license? Was it months or weeks that you found a LPN/LVN job?

After I passed my test, It actually took a couple of months for me to get hired, I was working at the time so I might not have been searching as much as attending a nursing orientation and filling out a couple of applications but put applications in as fast as possible since its the hospital that may take a month or so to do background checks and physicals. good luck

Bala, I got my license May of this year and still as of today do not have a job as a nurse. No one wants me because I don't have any experience. Good luck!!!

You do have experience..You went to clinicals during school and that should be in your resume..You have one year of hospital experience and that is a lot..When you go to work, you at least know what to do..

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I completed a California LVN program in October, moved to Texas in November, took the NCLEX in December, received my passing letter in January, received my California license in late January, received a temporary Texas license in early February, and started working a few days later.

Specializes in Geriatrics, Hospice, Disease Management.

I had a job with an agency waiting for me before I even took the NCLEX-PN and they're gonna reiburse me for the $135 license fee and the $200 NCLEX testing fee so I'm blessed..but everywhere I look says 1 year experience and its weird cause how do they expect you to gain that experience if they won't hire you as a new grad. Try a nursing home cause they use the same meds and its mainly wound care and passing out meds then you can move on after 3 or 6 months I guess or stay if you like it :)

Alot of times nursing homes will hire new graduates check there!!!

Specializes in Brain Injury Rehabilitation.

In MO we can practice as a graduate PN for 90 days so I had a job waiting for me the day of graduation. In fact, I graduated July 27 and started full time July 31. It helped I already worked in a hospital and they had intentions of hiring me the moment I went into the LPN program at my school. I am lucky though. Some of my classmates had jobs lined up, others weren't pushing too hard. we have a few who are doing clinic nursing though, just a couple doing nursing homes.

peace,

i introduced myself to the nurse recruiter & the human resource personnel of the hospital that i did my clinical rotation at. they told me to contact them when i had scheduled my nclex which i did. after i got my passing results they scheduled me for multiple interviews.

i was very lucky to snag my dream job of working on the ob unit. that job description actually called for an rn with 3-5 year nursing exp including ob exp. i was a new licensed lpn with no working exp.

peace

Hi BalaShark. I recently graduated at the end of July, and in mid-June i went around to a few LTC facilities in my area with my resume and dropped them off. at some of the places i talked to administration and explained to them that i will be graduating in July and taking my boards soon after that.

Almost all of them were very interested and told me to definetly call back once i find out i passed.

So, long story short, I graduated July 27th, took my Boards Aug. 9th, found I passed Aug. 11th, and i started working August 20th! The main thing is papering the town with your resume, and taking the boards as soon as you can after you graduate. Good luck!:wink2:
