Hi all,
I wanted to start a thread for those who are applying to Loyola University of Chicago's ABSN program for the Fall 2021 cohort.
I still have a few pre-recs to complete, but I am planning to submit my application next month. I would be moving from out of state and Loyola is my top choice program.

Yep! She said that I had everything submitted so it seems like it's just a waiting decision right now.

Mine seemed hesitant about when the admissions team started reviewing my app and gave an estimate saying it should take 2-3 weeks but it's already been 2 weeks. Just making sure we didn't miss anything that will delay the decision longer...
Same here. I was told 12-14 business days last Monday 1/25. Submitted my app on 1/12 and it was in review on 1/22 and still haven't gotten any update via email or portal.. I'm hoping we hear soon! ?

All of my pre-reqs were already completed so everything moved fairly quickly. I had two phone calls with an advisor and then she sent me the application.
I was actually offered the option to apply to the Spring 2020 cohort because everything was completed but I chose to decline. I am applying for the Downers Grove campus (hybrid program) because I still need to be able to work.
A few questions: Have you all thought about how you're going to pay for the 57k tuition? If you will be working while in the program, how will you accomplish that? I'm a teacher now so I will have to leave my current job if accepted in order to find something more flexible.
Hey! I'm also hoping to get accepted to the Downers Grove location for the same reason! I'm taking a CNA course right now, and if possible I'd like to work at least 1/week while in school.
My advisor told me that it's very doable to work part time while in this program, and a lot of students do. Although it still makes me nervous, because most former ABSN students say it's nearly impossible to do that... But since ours is a hybrid program, maybe it's slightly more manageable for us.
As for how I'm paying: I still have some FASFA money left to pull from, as an independent the maximum you could get is 12500/year (I think) so 25000 total (I think). Thankfully I've been able to save enough to just barley pay for living exp for 16 months, and the rest I have to get in private loans T-T.

Awesome! I was thinking of taking a CNA course. Are you taking it in IL? How much is it? I think it's a great idea to take it and get those hands on experiences before the reality of nursing.
I am also planning on taking out private loans and doing some scholarship applications.

I'm taking it in CA actually, but it's probably cheaper in IL. I have to look into how the license transfers over to IL, but I can at least be working until I move out there. So far getting some healthcare exposure has been really great to experience and solidify my decision for nursing.
Have you been accepted yet? I'm still waiting on 1 recommendation letter and one transcript.

I'm sure you will be fine with the transfer process & that's great because many places are looking for CNAs.
I haven't been accepted yet. I spoke with an advisor yesterday and I plan on putting the final revisions on my essay and submitting everything tonight/tomorrow. I'm also waiting on one official transcript.

Hi! I’m going to the Maywood campus come Fall. I’m waiting to apply for loans to pay for school and might look into getting a job that’s flexible. Not sure if we are allowed to work but I think something on weekends would be nice. If you see any good options please share. Thanks
