I am sorry but I would take the car.......I have worked in hell holes before I became an RN and let me tell you nursing is nothing compared to some of the other jobs people who work 60 to 80 hours per week do just to make ends meet. I am thankfull I am an RN and don't have to work two full time jobs to feed my family......

renerian I still would take the car LOL

I'm sorry but I don't think those other jobs...hold peoples lives in their hands...:o I agree with jt! Don't be blinded by the lights! I have worked 13weeks in places...and they couldn't give me 5 brand new..FREE cars and have me stay!!!

That was my point. What good is a temporarily-free car, even if you need it, if you have to let yourself be abused in order to use it?

Use of a company car is a fine offer if the place is a decent to work in but if the car is a bribe to get you to work in poor conditions then no deal. Spend the money on fixing the problems instead.

I heard of one hospital that may start paying nurses on some of their med-surg floors a couple of dollars more per hour than nurses on their other med-surg floors. WHY? Because the staffing is worse on those floors & the hospital doesnt want to try any costly initiatives to improve staffing - like adding pensions & better benefits. So just toss the short staffed nurses a bone to shut them up. .

They cant complain then cause theyll be getting almost a big $2/hr extra for their trouble. Any complaints about staffing would be met with "hey, you knew what the conditions were on this floor & you agreed to work in it when you took the extra money"

The hospital would get to avoid having to deal with its staffing problem and the nurses would get to work short staffed everyday - with their pts & their own licenses & backs at risk.

Is the bribe worth it?

step away from the car... it's dirty!

LOL

I swear what's next... offer to invest in me for a BSN or MSN

I've worked at this hospital 2 or 3 times through my agency, and after that refused to go back. Believe me, the car AIN'T worth it.

To put it briefly and bluntly, if I wanted to drive a saturn, I never would have gone back to school(no offense to you saturn owners, but I'm a single male w/no dependants). Offers like that are an insult to both my intellect and my taste. 2003 BMW? Maybe we could talk.........Maybe....

Hey! What's with the Saturn bashing? I love my Saturn. I bought it 3 years ago, used, built in 1994. Today, it's got over 106,000 miles on it and it's still going strong without even a hint of a problem. I haven't even gotten a tune up yet. I know I know. One of these days I promise. :roll
