Los Angeles County School of Nursing and Allied Health - Fall 2019

Published

Hi there,

Has anyone applied to LAC School of Nursing for Fall 2019? I thought I would get this post going so we can stay informed and help each other through this waiting process! What are your points that you calculated?

Thank you for clarifying that! No wonder why I did not see anything on the site and that is probably why they offer the deferment plan too!

Yes! I called & asked about it because I didn’t see anything about it either. They said the deferment plan is what most students do. If you don’t work for county after graduation, your payments are like $300 for two years to pay it back.

Does anyone know what the format of the interview will be? Individual or group? Panel? Will it only take that one hour or longer?

I wonder if they would tell us if we called...

Did you try asking? I called and asked, but they said that they weren’t giving info about it since it would be a disadvantage to other applicants.

I didn’t call but I will call tomorrow and ask. I had a feeling they probably wouldn’t give out that info.

Hi there!

I'm also scheduled for an interview this Friday, May 3; CONAH's website says results will be available by May 15. My little dilemma is that I have a May 10 decision deadline for another RN program I thankfully got accepted to. However, I would really like to be in CONAH's program if I get in (hopefully!) I don't want to decline my spot in the other program yet, but I don't know how to politely tell them. Does anyone know if other colleges offer extension to decision deadlines?

Do not ask for an extension. Accept the May 10th offer, but also go to the interview on May 3. When you find out you got in on May 15th consider your pros and cons and pick the program that is best for you. After you make your decision send an email to the school you did not choose thanking them for the opportunity but you have to decline the seat. You do not have to go into detail why and do not owe anyone an explanation. You have to make the best decision for you and you worked very hard to get into both programs so do not feel pressured to make an decision until you have explored all your options.

Is it weird that I’m a little nervous? I just want to get it over with!

Not weird at all. I’m sure everyone is nervous. I definitely am. It’s a lot of pressure.

I'm also in a similar situation, but I'm curious to know why you prefer CONAH over your other program. My dilemma is that the County offers only one affiliated collaborative school CSULA as opposed to a few more choices offered i.e. at LACC. I'd assume that the competition would be a bit higher overall at CONAH

Anybody know about how many people will be at each interview time slot?
