@duachangesthings thanks again! You’ve been so helpful. I should’ve looked more closely before asking. Much appreciated!

My top two choices are Allied for quality and Pierce for location.

@2bNurseKevorkian no problem! My two choices are county and golden west. Golden west is more affordable, but county has the most amazing clinicals and future job opportunities. So we both have major decisions to make if we get into our prospective schools!

What’s the difference in price between Allied and Golden West? Just curious.

Golden west about 6,000 total and LA County 9,600. Plus I could get fee wavier at Golden to knock off tuition fees so I would probably pay around 3000 out of pocket.

@duachangesthings Wait, does Allied not take financial aid/BOG fee waivers? Why do I feel a bit uninformed about that. I thought Allied took financial aid?

See I do not know. When I looked up the financial aid section it said nothing about the fee wavier just grants and loans. And I know how they were pushing that deferment plan where you pay 700.00 instead of 2400 but you must work with the county for a certain amount of years to pay back. If I got in I was going to make an appointment with the financial advisor right away to explore my options, including asking about the fee waiver. I know its considered a community college, but I got a little concerned when I did not see anything about the fee wavier on the site.

@duachangesthings That’s interesting. I’m going to look into this a bit more. I’ll let you know if I find anything. Thank you!

Yes please let me know!

@duachangesthings@2bNurseKevorkian allied doesn’t do fee waivers. It’s a community college but not a “technical” community college if that makes sense. You can get financial aid as in loans, Pell & CalGrant but the BOG waiver for tuition like a regular community college - you can’t get. The $9600 has to come out of pocket.

Thank you for clarifying that! No wonder why I did not see anything on the site and that is probably why they offer the deferment plan too!
