Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014

Published

This is for those of us that will be applying to LA county college of nursing and allied health's fall 2014 semester. I will be submitting my application for the basic RN program tomorrow... Yayyy!!! I am beyond excited, I can't believe this time has finally come!

Where else did you apply? I plan on doing the bridge later; the priority is to get into a program, get a job and then advance. This is my second career so I don't feel like wasting time :-).

You scored great on the teas. I am still waiting on my results, hopefully I will be able to see them on Monday.

I see you like kitties. I have two kittens as well :)

I applied to CSULB, CSUB, and Chico State for their Bachelor's programs and just County for ADN.

That's also something I've thought about A LOT: getting into the program, getting a job, and then advancing.

Aside from the financial point of view (as in how I'm going to pay almost triple times the tuition at a CSU than I would at County per year), part of me is thinking that going to County may be the best way to go. Not only do I know that I can totally afford paying County's tuition, but I wouldn't have to move to a city (with the exception of CSULB) where I don't know anyone.. If I went to County, I would only have to worry about working part-time as I have a lot of support here in Los Angeles, thus, allowing me to fully concentrate on my classes. Not that I wouldn't be able to do it if I ended up moving and going to a CSU, it would just be harder...

If you can't tell... I'm quite young... lol.

& thank you! I see that you're still waiting for your score to be posted! I'm sure you did great :) don't forget to let us know how you did...

Personally, how do you feel about how you did on the exam?

Aww! I have one cat, who's named Kitty, but she ain't a kitty any more (she's almost 9). I didn't have an imagination when it came to her name...haha.

@excited1: Your welcome! That was one of the two lists that I used to study for the TEAS & felt that most of what is listed on there was on the test. Just remember to breathe and take your time reading things (esp. labels on maps, legends, etc).

I was also going to take it at a PSI center but ended up taking it at CSULA in the paper/pencil form towards the end of February.

I am nervous to take it at PSI center because people have posted that the paper/pencil format is easier. Then I realized, this is a standardized test and won't be any harder just because we are taking it on a computer. That wouldn't be fair. I know that is not the case!

I plan od doing the adn at County and then later bridging at Cal State LA. Nursing program is hard as it is without having to worry about other factors. You want to have as best conditions as possible during the program to make sure you would give it your 100%. And, I definitely don't want to spend more money than I have to when there is a much cheaper and equally good option. I know that after County's program I would not have problems getting a job because their program is highly reputable, and most County students can get jobs at County hospitals.

I have two 5 month old kittens, Lola and Pepi. They are siblings :-). It is a very special and rare breed called Singapura breed. It is the world's smallest cat breed :-). They are just soooooo freaking cute. They make me laugh.

I fel confident about the teas, but you never really know with those exams. After more than 4 hours working on it, my head was about to explode :-).

Hopefully, I get to see my results tomorrow :nailbiting:

Thank you SO much......So since I have been studying all of that sounds like there will be NO surprises. Just simply taking the time to read the question and ALL possible answers. As you know, since you purchased the online assessment, they give you a breakdown of the topics missed on the exam. I took form A online, got a 69% (panicked) then studied only the missed items and then took form A again. The second time, I received an 82%. Then I studied what I missed off the second one. Then I took form B again today and got 67%. Partially because I just selected an answer in English and Reading because I was ONLY focusing on Science and Math. The math questions on form B seemed more abstract which threw me off knowing I was against the timer. I'm comfortable in Reading and English, so now I will just focus on Math and Science tonight and tomorrow. My test is Monday morning. I'm taking it at a PSI center on the computer. My results should be available within 48 hours. My girls at County were supposed to have their results Friday and they are still waiting :( (Enzyme and Smylee)[/quote']

I'm praying that you do extremely well tomorrow. Be sure to get good sleep and eat breakfast before you go! You will do fine. You will probably get your results before we do...lol!! :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

Good morning. Good luck this morning. You will do great!!!!

Hi all,

I, too, have applied to LA County Nursing for Fall 2014.

Did the "Pre-Entrance Exam" refer to the TEAS testing? Or is the "Pre-Entrance Exam" mean completely something else? I did call them but all they told me was that I would get a letter if I am qualified to take a "Pre-Entrance Exam". So I'm confused. LOL.

I just want some clarification.

Good luck to those taking the TEAS and Congrats to those that passed it! :woot:
