There is nothing to hear after you submitted the packages. It is all done. And the boot camp in August is more than just an orientation, it is an introduction into the nursing and clinicals; and why would you need more than three weeks after the boot camp to start and prepare for the program?! We will not register for classes, they will register our classes for us, we will get the list of books at the book camp, you purchase the books and uniforms, and that's that. As far as the room number goes, they told me that the room number will be posted in front of the nursing department during the boot camp. So we should all go to the nursing dept on Monday/August 11, to see the room number where everything will take place.

You really don't have to know the specific date, we cannot possibly know our graduation date two years from now. You just choose an arbitrary date, somewhere in mid June of 2016, any date you like :-), how about June 16 2016

I don't think we will be getting anymore calls from the nursing dept unless there is something missing in your package. Next step would be the boot camp. I hope to see you at the boot camp :-)

She doesn't have to talk to ---------------, whoever picks up the phone, just tell them that you are declining your spot in the program. Also, the deadline for submitting the medical package is July 10, after that, whoever didn't submit the package (due to going someplace else, or another reason) will be dropped from the program, and then, they will start calling the rest of the alternates so they can complete the medical requirements before August 11 (boot camp) I hope you will get in. Fingers crossed for you. LACC is my home college too and I love it there. I believe you still have a chance to get in ;-)

Well, I am pretty sure I gave a lot of information here, I wrote some long, extensive and detailed threads for people, I don't know what more one can need... I am afraid I can't help you with PCC, it was my backup option, not familiar with them. You will have to ask the questions on their forum.

Yes. I applied to three schools and I was accepted to all three ( PCC, County, and lacc) but I chose lacc as I know that the program is good and organized, plus it's much, much cheaper than County's. At County, the total cost is around 12,000 dollars , whereas at lacc less than $5,000 for the same degree. And lacc is my home college and I love it there :-)

Just to give you a picture about the days; everything is subject to change, of course :-) Mon from 8-3pm (or even till 4:30pm) Tue-clinicals from 7-5pm Wed-clinicals from 7-5 pm Thur from 9:30-4:30 pm And apparently, we don't start the clinicals until our fifth week :-). We will be practicing on dummies and each other until then (bear in mind that this is the info from previous years (from my friends)-they might change how they go around those things, but I don't think so) But of course, the schedule may vary a little once they give it to us at the boot camp, but that is how usually goes. You can see the schedule on LACC's website under Nursing, Registered. We will have Nur 103 (pharm), Nur 104 (Nurs Found with clinicals), Nur 105 (Med/Surg with clinicals), Nur 115 (skill labs) Go to the business office and purchase a preferred parking permit (fall semester-$28) for three student parking lots (two lots are on Vermont and Monroe, these are open parking lots; and one preferred parking lot is right off Melrose and Heliotrope-it's a garage) Well, you can find all the needed info on their website, plus the parking map. Research their website a little to become familiar with everything. Also, there are plenty of 6 hour metered parking spots on Heliotrope ($1/hr). If you want to cruise around the neighboring streets looking for free parking, good luck ;-). But, I would suggest Heliotrope metered parking until you get a parking permit for fall. You can't buy it until your fall schedule of classes shows on your student profile. And, the nursing dept will have us all registered for classes after the boot camp. We don't have to do the registration. At least that's what my friend told me. Welcome to our cohort ;-). I hope I helped :-)- Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014
I second everything excited said. :-) Good luck to everybody and may we all have a great nursing journey.- Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014
This sounds familiar from some students from previous year threads. I presume it is tough because they don't have enough preparation for the clinical portion so they are just thrown to the wolves. But you know, everyone is different. Some people struggle, some do good. It is all individual and don't let anyone scare you away from anything in life. Take one step at a time and that's all you can do. Why stress about something that hasn't even started. Relax and enjoy your summer :-) Stay positive, that will get you through anything in life- Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014
I believe that County's students struggle because County's program doesn't have extended classroom skill lab hours to prepare students for clinicals. That is why LACC's schedule is so long because every Mon and Thur after lectures on Pharm and Nursing Found/Med-Surg we have two-three hours of lab skills where we practice on dummies and each other to prepare for clinicals, which are done on Tue ad Wed. Ah, well, every program has its advantages and disadvantages, just be happy you got in and do your best. We'll get through this together :-).- Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014
I saw County's schedule of classes in my acceptance envelope. Their schedule seems pretty light compared to LACC's schedule. We do our clinicals from 7-5pm, and lecture days are almost until 4:30pm, plus a friend told me that also some weekends will be used for clinicals. When I saw County's schedule, it seemed very light. You guys could definitely work as you would have time to study after classes and have weekends off for sure- Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014
Haha, mac & cheese and ramen noodles for two years :-). Been there, done that ;-). Anything is possible when you have enough will and courage to do it.- Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014
From my personal perspective, I would never risk my spot in the nursing program. It is extremely competitive to get into one these programs, and once one gets to be accepted, one should not forfeit their seat. That is just my opinion. And also, this year they seem to have lower cutoff points so you don't really know what next year is going to bring. Maybe, next year there will be a lot more applicants, maybe more applicants with much higher pts so the cutoff might go up. Why risk it?! By just applying to the program means you were at least somewhat ready to start the program, otherwise you would not have even applied. And even if you do keep your job for a few more months until the next application period, I don't think that the financial situation can get that much better in only few months. But, like Dragonfly said, we do not know your situation, so maybe we are all wrong, and you truly know the best. I am just talking from my perspective an how I see things. I hope you make the right decision and good luck to you either way :-) - Los Angeles City College-Fall 2014 Applicants
