Los Angeles County of Nursing - Fall 2014

Published

This is for those of us that will be applying to LA county college of nursing and allied health's fall 2014 semester. I will be submitting my application for the basic RN program tomorrow... Yayyy!!! I am beyond excited, I can't believe this time has finally come!

Thanks for the input and good vibes. I think I'm going to apply to the Valley Program. I didn't know about that program and I'm determined to start this Summer. I need this ball to start rolling. Good luck to everyone else. Does anyone know if Chemistry is needed later on for the BSN bridge through Cal State L.A?

Yes, chem is needed for CSULA

Hold on, i thought you were referring to the CSULA generic BSN. SORRY! you are prob referring to the ADN/BSN collab. I dont know for certain, but i believe we may still need it. Anyone else want to chime in?

I wanted to apply to CSULA, I have an application in a front of me. Prerequisites:

English 101

Critical thinking

Public speaking

Chem 151 ( inorganic chemistry min. 4 sem units)

Human anatomy

Human physiology

Statistics ( includes inferential statistics)

Microbiology

I think I heard that for the bridge you must complete "golden three" . Statistics, speech and English 103 or 102.

Oh that's ok, thank you for your input anyways. Yes I'm referring to the bridge ADN to BSN. Either way I might as well take it. I'm just going to take it in September to get it out of the way. Thanks again

"Golden three" refers only to gen ed class requirement, but she still needs to have all of her prereqs done, regardless of what path she is going to take (i.e. regular BSN or ADN-BSN bridge). And yes, they do require intro to general chemistry. At LACC that's chem 60 - intro to gen chem-5 unit course.

ispilledink2, you should definitely take chemistry, not only for the requirement purposes, but also for a better understanding of dimensional analysis, which is a must for pharmacology. Good luck to you!

Hi there everyone, I am new to the thread, and I also applied to the LVN to Rn bridge program for this summer, im very anxious and hope i get accepted! Do any of you know the cut off points to get accepted?

Hey, good luck! I don't know what's the cut off for lvn program. I heard that cut off for 2 year program various between 78 and 82.

Hello all & welcome to those who just joined us...

I have a question regarding the collab. program that County has with CSULA. I've been doing my research for quiet some time (in the case that I get accepted) and saw that the program operates on a lottery system... I've read the brochure and all the information etc... I'm still unclear about one thing: How many times are you allowed to enter the lottery? Second OR third semester of nursing school or Second AND third semester of nursing school?

Hi! The brochure is not too clear. Maybe call the school for more info? Im sure they would be happy to answer questions. Also, maybe there is an allnurses forum on that topic? I am also interested but i am going to wait to find out if i am accepted to the County program first. I found myself getting REALLY consumed with all of the different possibilities and it was stressing me out. Im anxiously waiting for acceptance statuses but have decided one step at a time. Lol. Btw, it has been 4 days since i last bit my nails!!!! ;)
