This is for those of us that will be applying to LA county college of nursing and allied health's fall 2014 semester. I will be submitting my application for the basic RN program tomorrow... Yayyy!!! I am beyond excited, I can't believe this time has finally come!
I visited the campus when they had competitions back in high school. It is such a nice campus & it's HUGE! Is that were you completed your prerequisites?I also applied to CSULB AND CSUB. CSULB sent me a rejection notice approx. 2 weeks ago because the Chemistry that I took didn't articulate with their Chemistry course. As I mentioned earlier, CSUB doesn't send acceptances till early June so I might have to lose another $100 for the Universities intent to enroll on May 1st. *Sigh
I wish they all sent notifications about the same time. It would make it easier! I'm not too fond of this lottery system though. However, if I get in WOO HOO. LOL. Enzyme has a friend that has a 3.9 overall GPA and got a great TEAS score, but wasn't picked for LACC lottery. And I saw a post for a similar situation for another student last semester and she didn't get picked either.
How many colleges in total did you apply to? Applying to more than 2-3 would drive me crazy. I mean, don't get me wrong, I totally understand why people do it. We increase our chances, etc. I just couldn't go through each programs specific requirements and steps in the application process. Let alone, have anxiety for more than 2-3 at a time. LOL.
I have taken my prereqs at PCC and COC. I used to live near PCC and moved to the Santa Clarita area so I switched to COC.

If they did send notifications out at the same, it would save students so much money.
I feel like with lottery systems, it's solely pure chance. You can do everything the right way and things can still go wrong. It can also be that you do enough to get by in your prerequisites and TEAS and still get accepted. Nonetheless, best of luck! :)
I applied to 4 in total but now I only have 3 that I'm awaiting a response from. As far as specific requirements went, all the courses that I took articulate with their curriculum (with the exception of CSULB) so I didn't really need to take any extra courses (they all used the 4 sciences, developmental psych, english, critical thinking, and so fourth). The only extra steps that I had to take were during the application process. Chico uses NursingCAS for applications and it was a real pain in the butt cause you have to send them transcripts and then they have to verify EACH individual course... Some schools required more material than others for the application but thankfully, everything got done on time. Now, it's just the waiting game.
Lol @ the anxiety part. I would be lying if I say I didn't get anxious sometimes but at the end of the day, as you mentioned in your earlier post, the outcome is no longer in my hands. There is nothing I can absolutely do at this point so I try not to worry about it too much... Perhaps when the date of notifications get closer I will be saying otherwise. haha.
Hi everyone ! Do anybody know if we will have any orientation/meeting after our acceptance latters? I planed to go to Europe sometime in July... I don't want to miss anything important
. Btw, I went to County today to drop in my questionery. People who work in the office are not friendly... Well, I wasn't expecting them be all bubbly any way, but still... I was hoping that they will say "hello" at least

You are right about their not being too polite at the admission office. When we were turning in our papers getting ready to take the teas, they just took those papers without saying "good morning", without smiles, nothing :-).
You would have to confirm orientation dates with them if you get accepted.

Thanks for reply, most important that they don't lose anything from student's files) I hope they are organized )

They definitely seem organized! You should definitely call to make sure they have everything though. Today was the final day for them to accept TEAS scores. Good luck to you! Now we just wait, and wait :)
I didn't take the TEAS test with them and didn't notice attached questions. I dropped them out on Monday. Good luck to all of us) Hopefully they will notify us sometime in May) Do anybody know the cut score for the spring 2014?
I don't know the exact cut score for Spring 2014. However, I did see in the Spring 2014 forum that someone was accepted with 81 points. That does not mean that was the lowest admitted. Could be that someone with 80 pts or lower go in, but didn't wish to share their points, etc. OR, it could mean the cut as 81. LOL. How many points do you have? Have you applied to other programs?
Probably I must read previous threads to have better understanding about acceptance/ denial) I registered on this forum yesterday and didn't have a chance to read) I have 90 points.
I applied to LA county, LACC, Valley college ( btw, they started to give an applications today!) , and Pierce college.

With 90 pts, you are for sure in at County...congratulations to YOU!! I missed the "bonus" points for the teas by only a few questions. Super annoyed by that. My problem is that I have test anxiety and on the math portion, I blanked on a few questions and then I looked at the clock counting down, got irritated, upset, watched the clock count down some more and then before I knew it, I was out of time with several math questions left so I had JUST enough time to go through and randomly select answers. HAHAHA. I would have had 87 points had it scored a little better on the TEAS, but now I only have 82.
I also applied at COC as it is a mile away from my house. They are on a lottery system so I'm not holding my breath for that program. We will receive acceptance status emails within the next two weeks. If accepted, we have a mandatory orientation 4/25, so I would assume we will hear the week of 4/14. By the looks of past posts, COC is on time with their notifications so either way, I will know soon my status with one of my choices! LOL.
I would be grateful to be accepted to either of the two programs! We have all worked so hard to get to this point!
In your last post you said "Valley College (btw, they started to give an applications today!)". What do you mean by that? They just now opened up their application, or they started sending out acceptance notifications?
