Looking for the PERFECT ink pen ;)

Published

Hi, I've been trying to find the perfect ink pen, so I can buy several to stash in my locker and always have one. It seems ink pens tend to be hard to come by some days. I don't want to waste a bunch of money buying new pens all the time that I don't really like.

I do NOT want Gel ink. I prefer a medium point that writes dark and smoothly, not too big around and not real small.

Do you have a favorite pen???

I'd recommend the Sonix pens from Staples. I used to work as a admin asst. and I use these pens all the time they work wonderfully. They aren't very expensive here is the link to were you can order them:

Out in the world, I normally carry fountain pens - a trick I learned in high school, as my writing tends to be a bit illegible and the fountain slows me down enough to form proper letters instead of a series of notchy curlicues. :p On the job, I've been forced to convert to ballpoints, since it's almost impossible to get a fountain to write legibly on a carbon form. I rotate between two "work pens" - a Parker Jotter in breast-cancer pink, and a Parker-compatible freebie that I got from Suture Express in my previous career. In both instances, I took the Parker refills out and replaced them with Space Pen cartridges, which will write on just about anything... with one exception...

...LAB STICKERS!

I still haven't found my Holy Grail: a pen that will write on lab stickers without smearing. I've tried rollerballs, gels, ballpoints (including the aforementioned Space Pen - better than average but still smeary), art markers, Sharpie markers (including the super-permanent, industrial-grade version - smears worse than the regular!), and even pencil. Everything smears to a greater or lesser degree on the silly things, so much so that we all laugh about having our ID numbers tattooed in reverse on our thumbs by the end of the shift.

Does anyone out there have a solution to this dilemma?

i like the TUL pens (blank ink) there good its a fine point and clickable from the top so no cap

i keep wanting to try those but don't they bleed through the paper?! i know they say they don't but i just find it hard to believe...

I love Parker pens, but they are a target for pen pirates. Problem I have with them is the price of the refills, at least in my country. The local "generic" ones aren't good quality.

I usually buy Bic pens for work, but there's usually plenty of freebies going around so they sit in my locker for when the freebie dries up. I like the Bic Atlantis, I find it's a nice shape for my hand, and you can choose fine or medium point.

I'm obsessed with Sharpie pens right now. They're great, and come in a few different styles and colors now. I use them for pretty much anything, class notes, clinical assignments, even things not pertaining to class like balancing my checkbook! I have them everywhere, my purse, by backpack, and during clinicals, one in each pocket on my scrubs!

I also really like these pens, and no they don't bleed thru paper. They are rather expensive $4-$7 for 2 pens depending on if you get the retractable ones or not. But these pens don't go thru carbon copies, wish they did!

I am a huge fan of the Uniball Jetstream series of pens, mainly the RT. I got one free a while back and lost it and went out and spent $9 on a three pack of new ones. Good move on Uniball's part, as I never would have bought them otherwise.
