Hi, I've been trying to find the perfect ink pen, so I can buy several to stash in my locker and always have one. It seems ink pens tend to be hard to come by some days. I don't want to waste a bunch of money buying new pens all the time that I don't really like.
I do NOT want Gel ink. I prefer a medium point that writes dark and smoothly, not too big around and not real small.
Do you have a favorite pen???
I myself am on team Zebra. Any pen from zebra is great. They have refills in different colors and different sizes. They are a bit skinny for some people, but you can put one of those pencil bumpers on it to thicken it up.
Oh and a tip....keep it in your pony tail.
I have had the same pen for two years. Believe it or not. I keep it in my ponytail. Right between my head and the ponytail holder. That way I always know where to find it and people cant walk off with it. I break off the clip part and tape the end I broke off with enough tape to make a bumper so it doesnt slide out. Best trick ever. (ok, maybe not ever but...)
Now even when Im running into the room last minute I always have one with me and every shift I go home with my own pen. Just remember its in there. The inside of the hood of my coat does have a few lines in it
A while back a similiar thread was started. There are some great suggestions for pens.
Loved this thread, it was nice to see I was not the only "closet pen addict"..

Parker pens are my favorite. They're a little more expensive and I don't get the really expensive ones but the ones that are sold are Wal-Mart and such. No one touches my pen but I always carry a few cheap PaperMate Pro-Fit pens or Profile pens (although profile pens tend to bleed and smear for me a lot but they write soooo smooth and dark and come in lots of colors and are comfortable to hold I still love them) in my pockets for others to use.
I love pens and I'm addicted to them. I can't go to wal-mart or target or wherever without going to the pen aisle for a good few minutes and looking. I'm super picky about what pens I will actually use though if it doesn't write smooth and it's not comfortable it gets thrown away.
Okay, I feel so much better about my obsession with pens. I thought I was a freak. I'm starting NS next month and have, so far, gone to 4 different stores and opened I don't know how many packages of pens to see how they write. I'm surprised I didn't get arrested, because I'm all secretive about it, looking over my shoulder as I rip open the package...but how can I spent $5+ on a pack of pens if I hate how they write?! Anyway, I decided on the Zebra Z-Grip Max. I love that they are ball point, but write as smooth as a gel (I hate gel pens) and they have a nice, cushy grip. Now, if only they would go on sale so I can buy 20 packages of them!
Oh, and I love the trick of putting it in your ponytail. I'm so going to do that!
So I changed my mind. Parkersburg never let me down for a while and now they're always failing on me. So I tried a Zebra F-301 fine and I LOVE it!!!! I was a little worried about it not being comfortable to write with but it's the best pen ever!! Since they're on sale I'm
going stalk up on them and replace all my other pens :)
I know this thread is a little dated, but oh well :)
I LOVE Pilot brand pens! I am such a nerd that I order straight from Pilot online :) I usually use the Dr. Grip (I put stickers under the grip part so I know if someone snags my pen). I like the Gravity one too, but it doesn't come in fine point which I prefer. If looking for something more inexpensive, the Pilot Easy Touch retractable are less then $2 & perfect for pockets! I used these during clinicals in case I lost 'em or they walked off. And if you want gel, the G2 write nicely.
I love that these are all refillable (which is also why I buy online - stores don't sell the refills in fine point very often). I prefer fine or extra fine & blue ink so much, that it's the reason I seek out certain pens. It was rough when at one clinical site I was told doctors were only allowed to use blue ink, nurses had to chart in black. I had to scrounge my bag for a black ink pen. I still buy new pens to see if I'll like them but I always go back to Pilot. I swear I could be a rep or spokesperson for them, haha! :)

Papermate Profile is the best pen I've ever bought. It writes bold and smooth and they're available everywhere in every color.
