Iguana Med Scrubs
I wonder if anyone out there can offer advice on Iguana Med scrubs for women. I have several friends who absolutely LOVE them and where nothing but them because they are so soft. I would like to order some off line because our local scrub store doesn't carry them for whatever reason and they state they won't special order them. Whatever....anyway...I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how they run in size in relation to the Cherokee scrubs. I wear an XS in both tops and bottoms. Thanks for any help!!!

Summer lull?
Our ED census has been somewhat odd. It has been low, which has been really odd for my region and isn't normal for my region (north-central FL). I've heard that it's not normal for this time of the year. I'm new since I just graduated. I'm just waiting for the ball to drop. Everyone seems to think that it's related to the heat. I'm not sure. But there have been nights where we have had no one in the waiting room for a few hours. I have a feeling things will pick back up once the students come back into town and the football season gets kicked back up again. Who knows...it's just been odd this summer.

What scrubs do you like best?
i big puffy heart the koi pants because of all the pockets that come in handy in the ed and they are super comfy and come in a lot of different colors. although they are a little more expensive than other brands, but they hold up pretty well. they only thing i wish i could change about them is i wish there with slits in the bottoms of the pants...but other than that, those are my favorites

Paramedic Shears for ED nurses
I'm looking for a good pair of 7.5'' paramedic shears. I would like them to have the rubber finger grips. I've tried looking on-line at paramedic specific websites, but no such luck. Any ideas?

Vera Bradley bags?
I used the large backpack for a semester but found that it didn't have nearly enough space. After barely being able to squeeze a 3 inch binder into it, i found there was no room for anything else, so i ended up getting a MUCH bigger Villager (I think) tote. I worked out great, and I was able to have room for other stuff along with my HUGE binders. Hope this helps! ) Good luck in school!

Should I really do this?
you feeling scared, i can definitely understand that feeling. graduation is quickly approaching for me. the closer it gets, the more and more scared i become. i know i want to be a nurse, but it still scares the crap out of me. that's a hard thing for me to admit. i've been in the hospital setting for 5+ years. i don't doubt that this is the career path for me, and i don't doubt that i am capable of taking care of patients, but what i am scared about is that i don't want to screw up and possibly put myself or my patient in a worsening life altering situation. i expressed these feelings to a co-worker who has been a nurse for 20+ years. she told me that the day you come to work and you are no longer scared, is the day you need to retire or find a new career. she told me that everyday she comes to work, she is "scared". she told me that when you come to work acting like you know everything, and become relaxed is when you screw up. i don't think anyone has ever given me better advice. it's ok to be scared. the medical field (no matter what position) is a "practice". we are constantly practicing. nothing is perfected. just believe in yourself!

How do you deal with annoying classmates?
blow them off!!! in the end, it's all abut #1 (you, or in my case me) nursing school is stressful enough, and you don't need to take on extra drama that isn't necessary.

Heeelpppp please! I need to make sure im on the correct route w/ my dx
what first popped into my head was possible knowledge deficit r/t disease process and a risk for caregiver role strain or something along those lines. the pt's so might be anxious to be the one to care for the pt, but in time, it might be more than the so can handle. good luck with this. :)

Uniforms and dress codes
i am so happy that the hospital that i work at allows the employees to wear whatever they want. after having to wear royal (smurf) blue scrubs throughout nursing school, i'm glad that i'm allowed to be creative and express myself through the scrubs i wear to work. it's nice to be allowed to not have to look the same as everyone else. i'm seriously consider holding a class-wide smurf scrub burning after graduation. i absolutely hate the color blue now because of this. lol

The little things that an aide does that make a difference...
nurses have always told me that they love the fact that i take initiative and do things before they have to ask for them. it always seems to make them smile when they ask you to do something and you let them know that you've already done it.

OB Clinicals Question
i waaaayyy over packed for my ob clinicals. half of the stuff that i crammed into my pockets i ended up not needing. guess i was too used to med/surg clinical setting. i brought my stethoscope (of course), black pen and pen light. that was about it. i personally found ob to be very boring. if there isn't a mom in labor and about to deliver, then there is a lot of sitting around to do. i always managed to go into the newborn nursery and hold babies :) definitely the best part of ob clinicals.
