Lonestar 2011 ADN Hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?

Good luck to all applying:)

Hey does anyone know how often you have to get your titter? When do you have to actually get your background checked?

idk about the titers, but i heard that getting them done is expensive. A nurse at a health clinic told me it could cost up to $200 because of labwork to determine your immunities. She just told me, if you really needed proof of vaccines, just get another one - it won't hurt you, you've already established antibodies. I was confused if we needed 2 varicella/chickenpox vaccines. i've gotten my boosters of everything else except the varicella, which i didn't get because i already had a history of chickenpox.

as for background check, i figure that is right before the program begins in august.

nicerubio, my lvn was with montgomery, i got my acceptance letter on tuesday and my point was 7.4...i hope these helps.

I'm curious to know if someone who chose NH as their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice will be considered before someone who chose NH as their primary school if their score is higher. I don't like this waiting already. :uhoh3:

Yes, the higher scores will get in to their 2nd or 3rd choice before a lower score will get in. For example, I applied with an 11.12 as Mont as 1st choice and NH as 2nd. If someone else had a lower score at say a 10.9 and have NH as their 1st choice, my score probably isn't high enough to get into Mont, but may be high enough for NH. So, I would be accepted to my 2nd choice school, NH, b/c my score is higher.

Hi Guys, I'm in Cy-Fair's program right now. Don't even worry about the background check right now. They will send you the info for it after your acceptance. It's not something you can do before acceptance. ALSO...to those of you needing shots: Harris county has a clinic in Humble where you can get all of your shots for $15 dollars a visit and the wait at this clinic is usually short (unlike the Antoine Clinic where you will wait all day).

Good Luck to you all

Oh no! That's no good for me! Well I'll just keep praying for acceptance into one of the programs.

month long anxiety.... argh. dont forget about applicants that have applied elsewhere. there are many chances to make it in, especially via waitlist as other students may decline the lonestar adn program for another program more enticing to them. Judging by the recent posts in this thread, the new hesi score requirements are weeding out a substantial amount of applicants that opens up opportunities for others that are eligible. keep your heads up and good luck everyone.
