Lonestar 2011 ADN Hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?

Good luck to all applying:)

mac31,

Thank you so much and I am also addicted to Starbucks, I just got my

friend to walk over to the other building at UHD to grab me a FRAP..

LOL!!! I am trying to stay, busy you would think that with 2 kids I

wouldnt have time to worry (LOL).... You will get in.. Have you took

Phamacology yet..

11.4 is a great score and I am sure that is good enough for you all to get in... I mean the cut off last year was 11.27 per the website and those were people that may not have been able to pass the AP on the HESI... this year with that extra requirement in there I am sure an 11.4 is considered a highly competitive score!!! I dont have a starbucks addiction---- I am addicted to diet dr pepper and flamin cheetos...... if I dont get an acceptance letter soon I will have to buy stock in cheetos.... :-) :-) I too wonder how in the world I have this much time to think about this since I work full time in a very active job and have a very busy home life etc.... but it is always back there in the back of my mind ... am i or am i not ---- WHEN WHEN WHEN .... just put me out of my misery.... AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHA:lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:

katlady,

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! My oldest daughter loves flammin cheetos.. LOL!!

I have been reading this thread and it seems like everyone feels the same way: stressed, anxiety and eager over receiving the acceptance letters. That is all I can think about! I can't even focus on my classes this semester. I really hope we all get good news soon. I have an 11.75 score but still feel a tremendous amount of anxiety. :(

Insomnia, I have an 11.75 as well. I applied to Cy-fair as my first choice and even though the cut off was 11.6 last year and will most likely be lower this semester I'm still extremely nervous. And I didn't receive this survey everyone is mentioning. Is that bad?

I haven't been called either Sarah but I don't think it is anything to worry about. I did receive an email through the school email from the North Harris nursing dept (my first choice). They pretty much just ask you if you have any suggestions and comments about the application process.

I think the survey only went to people who applied to North Harris campus as first choice. One of the things I am doing to entertain my brain while we are waiting is catching up on some books for first year nurses to see if I can gain some insights on how to be my best. One of the books is "How to Survive and Maybe Event Thrive in Nursing School" by Kelli Dunham. It was a recommended book to read per the North Harris online orientation ....I just started it --- jury is still out but it seems to have a lot of good resources in it..... Has anyone else read this book? Another book I bought but have not started yet is "First Year Nurses". Forgot who the author is .... I ordered both off of Amazon and received them end of last week. I am taking CNA class right now down at North Harris and went to get my scrubs at Scrubs etc and saw a magazine called "Scrubs" it was free.... Looks like they are online too scrubsmag.com... havent went to the site yet but the articles were REALLY good.. talking about work life balance ... etc... highly recommend... anyone else have any good resources like this they have checked out

Has anyone ever gone through Elsevier to send their test scores to another school? I have tried for 3 days to get someone to help me out with this and since Monday, I have only received 1 call back.

The survey was from the North Harris Nursing Department advisor so my guess would be as good as yours, that the survey only went to NH 1st choice applicants. I haven't looked into books that would give me a sense of what to expect, but now that you mention it, I have seen that book mentioned in the online orientation and will definitely look forward to getting my hands on it. Thanks for the share!

I had taken my Hesi at a prometric center for UT and had to contact Ms. Givens in order to transfer my scores to another institution - Lonestar. Yeah, I had major trouble just trying to get a hold of her as she's never in her office after 12pm noon. I suggest trying to contact her between the hours of 8am to 11am as that's usually the time I would be able to catch her. If you hadn't obtained it already, I'll go ahead and pm you the contact details.

mac031,

yeah all of my calls have been in the afternoon, maybe thats why I never get to talk to her. The one time she did call me back it was at 2:30 in the afternoon but an email to her just after that has still not been answered. You would think that even if she did leave the office at noon, she would return calls the next day. I am going to call her again right now.

Nicole :)

Still no answer at Ms. Givens line. I'm going to ask the receptionist to speak to someone else there.

So I called back and the receptionist directed me to a manager who told me that Ms. Givens hs been "out sick" and I asked if someone else could help me and was told "no" bc Ms. Givens is the only one who usually handles the forms....... ok there is not a single other person in the whooooole company that can send test scores to another school?! Really? Then I expressed my frustrations with Ms. Givens and my calls, voicemails, and emails that haven't been returned and told her that other students that have gone through her for test scores usally weren't able to get in contact with her after noon and asked if those were their normal business hours (the manager said no). Maybe someone was sneaking out early? Anyways, after going through all of that, then the manager remembered that yes, someone else would be able to help me and I just had to forward the transcript request form to her and she would have another representative call me for my cc info.
