Cannot seem to find a thread for LIU Brooklyn for the Fall of 2021. Decided to make a thread to hopefully find some other students applying to LIU for this upcoming fall to hopefully share and discuss any updates and encourage each other through the process of waiting for a decision! ?

Email said that there were 3 sessions that students can choose from (may July or august) if the prereqs listed below were completed and General Biology I was apart of the list. So I really thought due to not taking this class at this point it was going to be a rejection or at least a waitlist until I obtain those credits. Prior to this I had no idea gen bio was a pre req. But I got accepted, called to find out more today and was told I was admitted to the traditional program and that I could take the class either prior to the fall (Summer) or during. I asked if it is guaranteed that I am admitted to the accelerated program and they were unable to answer that and provided me with an email to speak to someone from admissions that deals with transfer students? When I do find out I will update! But the whole process is kind of confusing? I paid the deposit today. I hope this helps!
Hi, I was recently accepted for fall 2021 but I have no idea if I am accepted into the accelerated or the traditional nursing program. I am very confused because I only applied for the accelerated and I completed all my prereqs. My acceptance letter states thats its a transfer so I am not sure... Were you eventually able to get into the accelerated program?

Congratulations!! ? :) since I was missing bio, the person I spoke to on the phone said I did have the option to basically request to be placed in the accelerated after I took gen bio this Summer, but If I understood correctly its not 100% guaranteed.. so I just agreed to do the traditional. She made a few good points regarding the difference, basically said traditional is obviously longer, 24 months compared to the 16(accelerated) but I was told it would be 6-7 classes a semester w the accelerated route which makes sense. So personally I just figured let me go with the slower pace since the option is available at this school. I’m pretty sure someone should be reaching out to you shortly! I received an email from the nursing department about a week after I was accepted followed by a phone call. But I’m still waiting for an email on how to proceed further.
@marilyn.tran92 I would definitely ask them about this though, being that you do have all of your pre reqs

Thank you so much for the reply! I am super anxious about the process since LIU is the only school I heard back from, so I feel like my options are limited since I only have two weeks to accept the offer :(( Its great that things worked out for you though! I was sent an email today about the transfer student plan, and it says 24 months (four semesters that will not include Summer semesters) so I am a bit confused as to how the decisions are made. I'll definitely call tomorrow to make sure though!

Hi Congratulations to all that were accepted! I also was accepted and told I have to take general BIO over. (Will have to do the traditional program) I looked on the site and it does mention it but it didn't even cross my mind. I understood my a&p1, a&p2 were considered BIO. Do you know if you will begin Nursing classes along with the BIO. My acceptance letter says I was accepted for the Summer program. I am confused if they will be having me take the BIO course only, or will I be doing it simultaneously with a few nursing classes. Also, I finally logged in CastleBranch for the clinical requirements, and the e-learning portion is not available until they register me and I believe is due by May 1st. Did you or anyone complete the required documents?
Hi all!
I applied March 1st and was accepted March 7th. I just had a meeting with an admission counselor today to sign up for courses for the fall and was told that I had to retake 4 courses due to grades/expiration dates. I was surprised to not hear anything about this sooner. The option I was given are to take the courses by the fall start date and get the required grade or to take the courses in the Fall at LIU and start the ABSN program in the Spring.

oh my. They told you this now? in May? Why not back in march, Sheesh. I don't know how I would have received such news. I had a sneaky suspicion this might happen to me too so I signed up for older courses that may be overdue this Summer in a community college ahead of such news. Is this an option for you? Perhaps they'd let you start sooner if they are in the process of being completed.
Exactly! I was taken back. I guess the information is posted on their website I just assumed since I was accepted that I was good to go. They did say I could begin registration if I provided and unofficial transcript of the classes in progress. It is just a lot of unexpected work for the Summer that I did not anticipate so I am trying to figure out a plan.

The same thing happened to me! Originally I was told that I only had to take gen Bio this Summer because I never took it to begin with. A few weeks went by and I was told I have to retake two other pre-reqs because I received a B- instead of a B which is what they require.. Kind of shocking that this was mentioned way later.

Hello: Im checking out NP info on this blog and happen to see your comment. I graduated from the LIU ABSN program in 2019 and unless things have changed for 2020/2021 the school usually ensures that you are placed in a clinical especially if you are accelerated. Due to COVID I have heard that most schools are slower in placing you in clinical but everyone usually gets placed for the semester as long as you have medical clearance.
