LIU Brooklyn ABSN FALL 2021

Published

Cannot seem to find a thread for LIU Brooklyn for the Fall of 2021. Decided to make a thread to hopefully find some other students applying to LIU for this upcoming fall to hopefully share and discuss any updates and encourage each other through the process of waiting for a decision! ?

I received an email last week about scheduling an appt to speak with an advisor, I replied but haven't heard back yet.. I did already enroll for the three courses that I have to take at a different school for this Summer but I hope I can still secure a schedule in the program for fall to avoid late registration.

Yes. I suggest you to email (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) a mad send a copy of the classes you registered for and let her know you want to register for the fall.I am assuming they will register you for the traditional since they don’t have grades available to register you for accelerated.

WOW. I am taking the TEAS for other schools and while I'm not happy I rather take it because their tuition is much cheaper with higher NCLEX percentages as well. The more I read the more disappointed I've become.

@Hgonz622 were you already accepted to the accelerated program and now switching due to complication with courses? At first I didn't want to start late but I am considering it depending on living situation since I will be moving form the west coast.

I applied for the accelerated, and my acceptance letter said congrats you were accepted to the Summer nursing program. It wasn’t clear as in accelerated or traditional. I called and spoke with someone and they told me due to the fact that I am missing two classes I am accepted into the traditional because I am missing those two classes. I fell under the 3.3 GPA for the accelerated because of the two classes I am missing.

Adelphi, Molly college, St Francis, Saint Peter. Other private to look out for. They all need Tease. BMCC accepts a lot of students though, they are not too rough with the GPA requirement.

Hi, everyone! I've decided (right now, in May!) to apply to LIU... The application is interesting! I did a preliminary "application" and paid the fee, then had to wait 24 hours to get clearance to submit info via email. Does that sound right to you all?!

All they asked for was: transcripts, an optional personal statement, and optional references. Does anyone know how long the personal statement should be, and how many references are recommended? The admissions office isn't getting back to me quickly enough.

Also: is it worth submitting a resume? Or my TEAS results?

This is unlike how other ABSN program applications look, so I don't want to mess up!

Also: the website says that tuition is $37,926 (plus fees) for 24-36 credits. Do you know how many credits the ABSN program requires? It's unclear to me what the true cost of this program will be.

I'd be grateful for any hints and help anyone could give! And good luck to all of you!

Also: does anyone know how many students they accept into their (Fall start) ABSN program? Thank you again!

Yes they reached out to me by email to set up an appointment then told me. I add the same issues with my courses and I asked if any exceptions could be made since the grade was so close.

@AriP they finally got back to me about scheduling a registration appointment... was your  appointment over the phone or zoom or was it in person? Just curious, they didn’t tell me much so I was just wondering how this would take place!

I believe when I applied back in February it was like that for me as well.. I submitted basic info and paid the fee and they sent me like a secondary app to input other info and uploads docs.. about tuition I was told the same for the traditional program (per year).. one thing about their program is that if you don’t meet the qualifications for the ABSN program they automatically see if you fall under the requirements for the traditional (2 year program). I originally applied to the ABSN program and was accepted for the traditional. But even then, weeks after acceptance they told me I have to retake classes that I received a b- in because they require a b... not sure if you read previous comments on here but seems like most people are in the same boat! And I believe that admission is rolling, when I spoke to admissions a while back via phone they told me they don’t have a specific number of seats.

@lyd116 my meeting was via zoom. They reached out asking for my availability then set me a scheduled zoom link that was not in the availability that I gave them. I reached out and never heard back the the person I was originally scheduled with and then eventually just set up my own appointment with another individual.

I just got accepted into the Fall 2021 accelerated program today. they even offered me a seat for the Summer cohort since they have 3 seats left but that starts TODAY/NOW! that was kinda a too late/last minute notice for me, since I don't wanna already be behind in school. Im trying to decide between LIU and mercy right now. can anyone give me their perspective on LIU and how the program is?

Congratulations on your acceptances! I don't know enough about each program to offer specific advice on their programs, but for me, I would weigh location and price. Since  it's likely many of us are still in debt from the first bachelor's degree, affordability is important to me. And then time spent commuting can also make a difference in the energy you put into that year.

After that, I'd likely weigh class size.

Can I ask if you completed the Intro to Biology prerequisite for the ABSN? Mine is too old to be considered, and I really don't want to retake it! But it looks like LIU won't flex on that requirement for the ABSN and will instead funnel students into the 2-year program.

Best of luck to you!
