LIU Brooklyn ABSN FALL 2021

Cannot seem to find a thread for LIU Brooklyn for the Fall of 2021. Decided to make a thread to hopefully find some other students applying to LIU for this upcoming fall to hopefully share and discuss any updates and encourage each other through the process of waiting for a decision! ?

Thank you! It was so strange because I received an email on Friday the 26th titled ‘Start your courses for LIU nursing’. Email said that there were 3 sessions that students can choose from (may July or august) if the prereqs listed below were completed and General Biology I was apart of the list. So I really thought due to not taking this class at this point it was going to be a rejection or at least a waitlist until I obtain those credits. Prior to this I had no idea gen bio was a pre req. But I got accepted, called to find out more today and was told I was admitted to the traditional program and that I could take the class either prior to the fall (Summer) or during. I asked if it is guaranteed that I am admitted to the accelerated program and they were unable to answer that and provided me with an email to speak to someone from admissions that deals with transfer students? When I do find out I will update! But the whole process is kind of confusing? I paid the deposit today. I hope this helps!

I'll have to contact my school for this course. The BIO they give is either for the pre-med track or A&P. I'll take it this Summer if need be.

I received the same email! Did you fill out the form that was attached? I thought it was an ad so I emailed back and asked if I still needed to complete the form even though I had already sent in my application. But they haven’t replied so I’m not sure what it’s for.

No I did not fill out the form. I was very confused by that email especially regarding the three choices, thinking that it was strictly a fall start! When I first spoke to admissions over a month ago on the phone to just make sure they had all the required documentation I submitted, whoever I spoke to did mention that they can automatically consider an applicant for the traditional program and the difference is 2 years instead of the 16 month ABSN... that it’s a 4 year program and you would enter the second part of it which is strictly the nursing classes part of it because you already have pre reqs and a bachelors degree. But today when I asked I was told that it would be 3 years ?‍♀️ So I really don’t know what to expect and definitely need to call back and ask this question again because it doesn’t seem right.?

That sounds really confusing ? Did you apply to the ABSN or traditional program? I don’t think it should take 3 years with just one missing prereq.

Applied to the ABSN program! LOL very confusing did my best trying to explain this but yea that for sure didn’t sound right... hopefully with this one class that will change and I can be considered for the ABSN but we’ll see what they say.

That finding clinical space is an issue due to the number of students admitted prolonging how long it takes you to finish ? & that the cost of tuition doesn't justify the hassle. Sigh.
