Linfield Spring 2021 Cohort

Linfield 2021 Spring Cohort Application

Published

Hi y'all, I haven't seen a post on the Linfield 2021 Cohort application so I thought I'd go ahead and create one. I am kind of nervous about this application because I have a little bit of experience (about 3 weeks) working as a caregiver and I have not completed all the prerequisites (I have one Chemistry class in progress which I am taking this Summer term). Here's my stats so far: 4.0 A&P series, 4.0 science lab courses (Microbiology, A&P series, nutrition, Chemistry/biology), no volunteering experience and 2 references from professors. I am kind of scared that I would not get selected about of these reasons... would you guys mind sharing y'all stats also?

I knew I was forgetting something! No, I am currently completing my last 11 credits, including a final Chemistry course. I have no doubt that I will complete and pass them, so I'm definitely nervous regarding that aspect of my application.

@Gee.All93 I still think you will get in! You've maintained a 4 for all of your other reqs and have lots of experience. Looks like you're interested in L&D nursing? Me too! Maybe if we both get in we can exchange info!

Did anyone else here go the biology route instead of Chemistry? Just curious. Also, where did you guys complete your pre reqs at? I've been all over the place including a community college (COCC), Oregon State University, and Concordia University.

What do you mean by 11 credits? The sciences one? By the way, I completed my last Chemistry course last term but that was the only “in progress” course on my application.

No, 11 of the 93 required credits. I am currently taking Chemistry as my final lab-science prerequisite, and pharmacology and crisis intervention as general education courses.

Wait, I thought all science pre reqs must be complete at the time of application? Or am I reading it wrong? Linfield's website says:470166018_ScreenShot2020-10-01at2_16_04PM.thumb.png.6e01dab85132c813498a445a5043a603.png

Thank you! I am still hopeful -- I had some pretty solid letters of recommendation from OHSU faculty (a OBGYN and a nurse-midwife), so I'm hoping that they'll be my saving grace, no pun intended.

I'd love to connect about interests in obstetrics!

It basically says that you gotta complete at least 16 quarter credits of science and all the other prerequisite courses (psychology, stats, writing etc) complete. So you can still have some in progress science classes by the time you apply.

Oh wow! If you don’t get in then I’m doomed LOL I had my references from my anatomy & physiology professors.. wish I knew some people from OHSU or something.

I thought they had to be from professors that's what Linfield told me.

Same here!

Really? It doesn't say that anywhere on the application though. I got mine from nurses I've worked with. Hope that does not knock any of us that didn't do that.

I didn't reach out to Linfield and I didn't think NursingCAS mentioned who the references needed to be from -- I hope that is not a hard and fast rule.
