Linfield 2021 Spring Cohort Application

Hi y'all, I haven't seen a post on the Linfield 2021 Cohort application so I thought I'd go ahead and create one. I am kind of nervous about this application because I have a little bit of experience (about 3 weeks) working as a caregiver and I have not completed all the prerequisites (I have one Chemistry class in progress which I am taking this Summer term). Here's my stats so far: 4.0 A&P series, 4.0 science lab courses (Microbiology, A&P series, nutrition, Chemistry/biology), no volunteering experience and 2 references from professors. I am kind of scared that I would not get selected about of these reasons... would you guys mind sharing y'all stats also?

My prerequisite GPA is around 3.8 because of one class that I took years ago (I guess I forgot to mention that)

Hi Geroge! I also applied and am nervous as well. I have a prereq GPA of 3.92. My sciences are all 4.0, same as you, but my overall GPA is low from classes I took several years ago, I think around 3.5. I am also taking my last chem class and have a year of healthcare experience.

I was told that healthcare experience played little to no factor in the admission process. Volunteering is also challenging because of the COVID-19 situation.. would you mind sharing what brought down your prerequisites GPA? I have this one writing class which I took years ago but besides that, I got an A on everything else. I am not so sure how many points they take down for not completing all of the prerequisites by the application deadline. By the way, did you apply for the traditional program or accelerated? ...Hopefully we will both get in! Best of luck!

My prereq GPA is 3.92. I have an A in all of the prereqs with the exception of one B one writing course.

My overall GPA, I was previously a business major, is around 3.5. This the the GPA calculated by NursingCAS in my application. In previous threads it looks as if prereq GPA, science GPA, and then overall GPA is how they view the applicants. Not 100% sure on this though.

I am also unsure of how they consider not having everything complete at the time of the app. Have you contacted the college at all?

Also, I am applying for the BSN as I never finished my business bachelor degree.

I got all A’s in all of my prerequisites besides this one C on a writing class which I took years ago that drags down my GPA. I have tried to contact the college multiple times but it keeps going to voicemail. I wonder if they’re gonna take more student per cohort because they moved to a new campus... I am pretty sure you’ll get in though!

I called them yesterday and they said they might email us the the decision rather then use mail... so I would say check both, is it your first time applying to a nursing program? Have you repeated any prerequisites course?

I haven’t.. I know the deadline is October 1st so it might be too early. Did you apply for the accelerated or traditional program?

When I applied via NursingCAS (for their traditional program) it said the deadline was 8/1/2020. I think there was another thread about decisions coming soon, but if the deadline isn't until October maybe not.

I’ve heard some people heard back sometime near the end of September so we go some time.. would you mind sharing with us your GPA?
