Okay...I am hoping some of the previous graduates from Ohio University online RN to BSN will tell us how there career/life/attitude has changed since receiving their BSN!! Let us know.
Thanks for the info Didi and Chuckster. I just read yesterday that it takes 8 weeks, though in OU terms that probably means 12 weeks. I know I'm done, my DARS reflects that, but I still want that darned paper!
It's grueling out there Chuckster, as I'm sure you already know. When I got my ADN, I applied for roughly 150 jobs and only received 4 interviews. Three of those interviews were obtained because I knew someone at those facilities. One interview finally led to a job that I am still doing, though it's only PRN and I don't get many hours. My hope is that the experience I've gained in my current position coupled with my new BSN will increase my chances of landing a better position, though I know there are no guarantees. I've decided to spend the summer relaxing, then come fall I'll hit the pavement hard trying to land a better position.
Congrats to fellow summer graduates! I have not received my diploma paperwork either. I have decided not to pursue a master's degree at this time. I am currently a certified breast patient navigator and very happy with my current job. To those still in the BSN program: Hang in there, it is doable.

I am taking at least a year off before making any decisions about continuing my education. By the time I could complete a MSN, I would be almost old enough to retire.

That's the situation I'm in. My manager said the other day, "When you finish your BSN, you can just move on to your Masters." NOT likely in my case........ I'll be 59 when I get this darn BSN done.
I seriously doubt they appreciate the stress school puts on the "mature" nurse.

I keep waiting for that diploma to arrive. Also, I'm taking a year off too, but I am looking at two MSN + dnp programs (CNM/WHNP). With either one I need to get my application in by end of January 2014 for Fall 2014. I know I'm crazy.

What is retirement?? I figure I will never be able to retire ... so I am continuing on for FNP. Surviving so far ......
